I posted a description of this same problem on vpFREE several
years ago. I searched but cannot find it now... it was posted
under a different Yahoo ID.

You can reproduce this problem with ease on old IGT machines.
Simply press and hold one of the "hold" buttons then press
and release an adjacent "hold" button. You'll see the "hold"
indicator toggle off/on on the first card held as you
repeatedly press/release the second "hold" button.

On those older IGT machines you could not safely have more
than one "hold" button pressed otherwise the results were
unpredictable or at least unexpected. The newer machines
operate correctly with multiple buttons pressed simultaneously.
The modern IGT's are great for playing two machines at once!

G'luck all,

Morgans Hotel Group, minority owner of the Hard Rock LV, operates the casino and hotel.

Joseph Magliarditi has been the president and chief executive officer of the Hard Rock LV since May 2010. He was previously the COO of M Resort since it opened.

According to the LVRJ article posted here Monday, the owners and lenders reached an agreement over the weekend and the foreclosure has been canceled.

RE: [vpFREE] Current operator of Hard Rock LV casino?/ HRH Trip Report

I was just there and the foreclosure hearing has been pushed out till tomorrow per maria Emery, my host. I saw Operations manager Richard Stafella walking around and there was a rumor that he was gone. I presume the same group is still running it.
Quick trip report below....
Arrived Monday night at 6pm via swa. Limo was waiting when I went to Level Zero. After check-in went to Johnny Small's for the all-you-can-eat dinner. here are the details. You can only order two tapas per order. You can only be seated for 1.5 hours and if you order something and don't eat it they threaten to charge you full-price for it. Overall I thought it was very good. My favorite was the short ribs. Four stars ****
Monday night played 8/5 bonus 5 play lost 75 dollars and burned my 75 in free play. Got up this morning and went to the bank of 3/5/10 play games. Noticed 4 other players that were there for the promo. Played 400 hands in 1.5 hours to get the 5000 dollar played requirement for the two mystery envelopes. Got 5 dollars and 10 dollars out of it. Thought I played really well, just not enough four of a kinds etc. for a $175 dollar loss. Got a ride to the airport and checked-in my 3rd and final sony tv from the hrh slot challenge promo in Dec. The boothling was confused and called an associate over who got out her tape measurer. Final verdict: too big by 2 inches, got stuck for 50 dollars.

As of this moment (pre-foreclosure), who is operating the HRH casino in LV? Not the hotel - the casino. Thanks.

I haven't worked for a team since 1996. And I haven't played actively since 2002. I play now mainly for comps and show tickets.

I'm not sure who the Asian lady you met was, but she certainly didn't work for me. The closest thing I have to an employee is my cat Bocu De Chat (French for a "lot of cat").

To all those out there in vpFREE land. Anything I post about TEAMS is at least 16 year old news. I am in no way involved in team gambling today or in the last decade.

I sometimes partner with a few old friends, perhaps once a month when something comes along that too good to pass-up.

If you run into a modern team player they have nothing to do with me and I probably don't know them. I'm the old guard.

Just wanted to make sure there was no confusion.

I'm curious as to why you thought she worked for me?

There's a page on vpFREE2.com now that explains how the
rankings are derived. The casinos with the pages on the
site that get the most visits are ranked the highest.

There's also a link there to a form to submit and tell
them how you would like the casinos rated.

Apollo Management (part owners of Caesars) is buying up the Palms debt so Caesars can take them over like they did with PH."

I've had this happen to me from time to time as well. The pattern seems
to be that if you hit, say, 3 buttons really quickly in a row, once in a
blue moon hitting the 3rd one causes one of the first 2 to un-hold. My
theory is that if the timing is exactly wrong, it gets confused about
which button generated a button-down or button-up event and applies it to
the wrong button in addition to the correct one, or something like that
(but this is pure speculation, I have no knowledge of the software or
hardware internals, and since it happens rarely, it's hard to test the
theory...)

While technically this could be considered a malfunction or design defect,
practically speaking whether you can convince them to roll it back will
probably depend on which attendant/supervisor you get and how much they
like you and whether you're perceived as someone who shoots angles a lot.

Bottom line: It doesn't matter if it's the machine's fault or yours,
whether you recognized the correct hold or even pressed the correct
buttons. You don't get credit for any of that. The ONLY thing that
counts are which cards have the 'hold' label when you press the Draw
button.

Sadly, even knowing this, I still make speed-induced errors :-(

I can easily name two reasons off the top of my head:

(a) to know how to look out for and protect against it*
(b) to know what sorts of things you might do innocently that would cause
you to incorrectly be mistaken for someone who is doing it

there may be others.

*Since most of the people reading this probably don't own their own
casinos, reason (a) doesn't apply so much in this case, but is useful as a
general rule. e.g. if more people understood how e-mail fraud scams
works, fewer people would fall for them. Or, Mickey's example about
detecting cheating in live poker.
