[vpFREE] VPFree2 Database Re-design Suggestion

I'd like to see a re-design of the VPFree2 database to show the EV of all games. For instance, doing a search for 9/6 Double Double Bonus under the Casinos tab for South Point comes up with "(4) 25¢, 50¢, $1 3/5/10 Play QQ Up Quick Quads between high limit area and hotel registration" as one of the listings. From the WizardofOdds website we find that the EV for this game is about 99.65, yet one would not know that by looking at VPFree2. Similarly, the first listing for the same game is "(2)25¢ 1 Play MS STP Up Multi-Strike STP near Del Mar Lounge Bar," for which WizardofOdds does not show an EV (unless one adds the amount they show for both games to the 98.98% of the base game). As many, if not most, of the people viewing this board prefer playing the best games available at a particular casino, I believe showing the EV of all games would help the majority of those viewers. I'm looking forward to a discussion of this topic.

This is a very handy reference.

I use Google Chrome as a web browser. I loaded the above web page, printed the above progressive chart and selected the option to save as a PDF file. I then sent that PDF to my smartphone (iPhone). I can now conveniently evaluate almost any progressive. Kudo's to 5-card!

Apple's free iBooks application is what I use to view the progressive chart and also VP strategies that I have converted to PDF files using Google Docs (free also). I use VPSM to generate the strategies, then Windows Wordpad to edit them, then upload to Google Docs, then "Download as PDF" to get them on my computer as PDF files. I also use another PDF program to trim/condense the files before transferring to the smartphone. This last step makes only minor improvements and the program that does this was a complete waste of money until I found this one use for it.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Harrah's/Harvey's Lake Tahoe

I've seen some criticisms over taking a baby to Lake Tahoe and I can't see why. I've been going there at least a half dozen times a year since 1994, and some of those trips were over the Christmas holidays with our infant grandchildren. We always stayed in a cabin at the Hyatt in Incline on the north shore when the family comes, but you stay anywhere with your family and you'll have fun there. I've seen plenty of babies being strollered thru the casinos, because I don't stare at machines all day. My only recommendation is that you bring or rent a car, for reasons already identified by others.

South Tahoe Express runs several buses a day between the Southshore Tahoe casinos and the Reno Airport. It's about $50 roundtrip. I used to spend a lot of time at the Lake. It's definitely a nice little casino vacation.

RE: [vpFREE] LVRJ: Comp meals must be taxed, NV state Tax Commission finds

If they pass the tax on to employees and patrons using comps and in however long it will take for this dispute to be resolved by the NV supreme court and if they overturn the tax - how will all of those $millions ever be refunded to individual people who paid them? Will we need to keep records and each person seek a refund from the state?

I'm not saying this is or isn't stupid. . . I'm just wondering how it

may affect the free meals that many casinos offer their employees.

Will they now discontinue this? Will they charge for the meal?

Will they charge just the tax on the meal?

And what about players that are comped? Will we end up

paying just the tax on our meals? Will the property involved

also waive this? (I doubt it as there are many examples of

the properties passing on taxes--ie-last 7 Stars event in AC etc.)

A comped meal is still a nice benefit--however having to actually

"pay" for part of it just kinda takes the "shine" off the whole thing. . . .

Just sayin. . . . .

Typical brain-dead bureaucratic money grab.

While I agree that stingier F&B comps are in our future (and said as much on last Thursday's radio show), I don't understand what makes this a stupid ruling or a brain-dead bureaucratic money grab. States need to generate income from somewhere, and everybody rathers that "other people" are the ones footing the bill. To most non-gamblers it makes sense to tax casinos more. (And to most non-smokers it makes sense to tax smokers more. And to most non-drinkers . . . etc.) Is it just because it hurts us that it's a "stupid ruling?" Or do you have a less-self-centered argument as well? Bob

I'm not suggesting, nor have I ever suggested, the OP hang out in the

casino all day with his 9 month old. Crime occurs everywhere including in

one's backyard.

Re: [vpFREE] LVRJ: Comp meals must be taxed, NV state Tax Commission finds

Which is the pr behind nearly all taxes.. For example in Texas they state amazon.com must now charge tax because schools need money...so the people now believe all the additional money raised will now go to the schools... In reality probably less than 5 percent will find its way to education... it's all about pr so that governments can cover their own checks
