Re: [vpFREE] Dream Card Poker in Vegas

Flamingo has single line Dream Card when I was there a couple of months ago.

Try videopoker.com for placements.

[vpFREE] Dream Card Poker in Vegas

Hi all,

I searched the forum, but didn't find any recent posts regarding Dream Card Poker. My wife and I will be in Las Vegas in May and would like to find the game in a decent paytable. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I easily found these 25c 3/5 play JoB in the new section today, but they are by the Midway Bar not the Luxe Bar. The three slants with 25c/50c/$1 8/5 BP have also been moved there.

Only other change I saw was the downgrade of some of the $5/$10/$25 JoB and Bdlx in the high limit room.

P.S. If anyone here also plays at Tuscany Casino around the block from the HRH and has a lot of comps accumulated, the gift shop now has e-book readers (similar to Kindles) and HP laptop computers for sale.

[vpFREE] Re: Won my biggest jackpot - trip to Tahoe .... & volitility

I have no clue exactly how many multi-millions of hands of video poker I've played. But the best little royal run I ever had (where the royal odds were 40,000+) was at the Pioneer in Luaghlin. I'm guessing it was about 1999 or 2000. There was a lucrative promotion going on. I was playing unlinked 101.8% flush attack.

I hit two royals on the same machine about an hour apart. I took a break then came back, sat down on another machine and promptly hit another royal. Flush Attack royal odds are about 45,000.

Incidentally, I was uncomputerized in those days. I used the Paymar/Reul flush 50 strategy, then moved to the Tom Ski VPSM strategy.

Theres are big differences between video poker pros and machine pros. There are big differences between machine pros and professional gamblers. Here's one of the differences:

Under the Gun + 3 open raises and makes it 5 big blinds to go. Everyone folds to you in the cutoff seat. You look down and find a pair of fives. What do you do? Well, take a look at the guys stack. If he only has something like 30 or 40 big blinds behind then muck the fives because you are not getting enough implied odds. But if he has a big stack behind then call. The general strategy is to flop a set or get out of the way for any action. UTG+3 is either an idiot or he has a big pair or something like AK, maybe AQ. Call to see if you can flop a set and stack him off.

I don't put all my eggs in one basket. But I have taken a little over $8100 off the machines on this trip.

Gamblers don't retire. People from all over the country put their 40 or 50 years of work in then retire to Nevada so they can spend the rest of their lives gambling away every day. Check out all the old geezers in the poker games and all the little old ladies in the bingo parlors or out on the slot floor.

What am I supposed to do? Retire and go sit in a rocking chair? No thanks. That's crazy. There is no way in hell I will ever retire, except, when they shovel dirt on me. I've said this before but RETIRED will be a nice little epitaph on my tombstone.

Now, for insurance? I think I've made out like a bandit. I've never had any, except on some jobs years ago where it was provided. What does the stuff cost? A few thousand a year? Multiply that by about 40 years and I guess that is how much money I've saved. Now I know there is a first time for everything and maybe I'll have to break down and buy some of the stuff in the future. But I just turned 58 and the only times I've ever been to a doctor was to get stiched up after a bar room brawl. I've just never had a health problem. Yes, I know, that won't last forever.

Once an advantage gambler, always an advantage gambler. With insurance, the insurance companies are the advantage gamblers and the people who buy the stuff are the sucker bettors. The whole industry is based on fear. But they don't scare me.

Retirement funds? I guess that would be my bankroll. Except I ain't gonna retire. I don't hit the road because I'm low on money. I hit the road so I DON'T get low on money.

When I do kick the bucket I think I'm gonna have my bankroll buried with me. Whichever way I'm going there might be a play to put down. Of course, there will be a big concrete slab over my casket so some idiot can't dig me up and steal the loot.

It's an unlikely event, to be sure. But as I'm sure you realize, there's
a difference between the probability of an unlikely event happening to a
specific person, and the probability of it happening to anyone in a
large group.

[vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 26 APR 2011/Spin to Win

In every "spin" promotion I've ever been in on, it didn't matter if it went all the way around or not, and if it didn't on the first try, then whatever happened on the SECOND try, was what you got (rather than Bob getting to spin numerous times)

Whether someone believes future results are influenced by the past or not 2 royals on the same machine within a small time frame is a damn feat. Yes, I believe in skewed results but I also believe in the math as well. I play with a friend that was a casino accountant and machine auditor. He has a few words on machine randomness and the "math."

I've experimented with many ways. The current way that I think is best is to first get the strategy in writing. Then, without referring to the original, write out a copy and compare the two to see what differences there are. Repeat until the the differences disappear.

In no way, as I've hit two royals in two days myself.
However, if you're lucky enough to be blessed with the bankroll to play $5 VP, then good on you.

Congrats to Bob for getting an edge on a mechanical spinning device. My experience though is there are a couple of very crummy prizes surrounding the top prize. It could be more prudent to strive for the best quadrant of the wheel.

On a similar style prize wheel currently in use is one in Laughlin at the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall. They currently have a "Spin" promo going a couple times a week. It is a fine low roller promo where $1k (500 points) coin-in gets you a spin, up to three a day. New slot card sign-ups get to spin with their first $600 coin-in, a fine premium added to the initial $5 Free-play loaded onto your Acres system slot card to teach you about their PIN driven system.

The prize wheel has only 15 spots and has a high resistance in the dial. It would be very hard to get 3 revolutions in a spin. But the wheel starts where the last contestant left off. It is not reset to the top prize like Bob's experience. You also can elect to spin the wheel in both directions. Of course they want you to do one 360 degree loop, but you can usually strive for a quadrant.

Value for a spin is 2%+ if you give full value to the five food comp spots. The other ten are Free-play loaded up on your card. It sure beats the Crapola (hats, key chains, 4 function calculators, etc) they used to give away several years ago.

I am going to dig out a rules sheet for this promo. Pioneer always has rules sheets available (what a novel idea!) for all their promos located next to the slot club.
