Congrats to Bob for getting an edge on a mechanical spinning device. My experience though is there are a couple of very crummy prizes surrounding the top prize. It could be more prudent to strive for the best quadrant of the wheel.
On a similar style prize wheel currently in use is one in Laughlin at the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall. They currently have a "Spin" promo going a couple times a week. It is a fine low roller promo where $1k (500 points) coin-in gets you a spin, up to three a day. New slot card sign-ups get to spin with their first $600 coin-in, a fine premium added to the initial $5 Free-play loaded onto your Acres system slot card to teach you about their PIN driven system.
The prize wheel has only 15 spots and has a high resistance in the dial. It would be very hard to get 3 revolutions in a spin. But the wheel starts where the last contestant left off. It is not reset to the top prize like Bob's experience. You also can elect to spin the wheel in both directions. Of course they want you to do one 360 degree loop, but you can usually strive for a quadrant.
Value for a spin is 2%+ if you give full value to the five food comp spots. The other ten are Free-play loaded up on your card. It sure beats the Crapola (hats, key chains, 4 function calculators, etc) they used to give away several years ago.
I am going to dig out a rules sheet for this promo. Pioneer always has rules sheets available (what a novel idea!) for all their promos located next to the slot club.
