[vpFREE] Beware of lost points at Harrahs
I and several other people have noticed vanishing points while playing or missing multiplier points at some Harrahs/Caesars casinos. New Orleans high roller area seems to often have this problem. A friend recently told me he lost 8000 base points and has waited over a month for them to be reinstated. Some problems occur even if you catch the problem - your trip average may be lower than it should be, resulting in lowered mailers; then when your points do show up you are "tripped" again; and any bonus points you should have gotten may never show up, even if the base points do get credited.
So always put your card in and out several times after you play a couple of thousand base points and make sure points are registered. If not, in New Orleans high roller area check with VIP services to make sure the points are in your account. If you still have points missing, ask to speak to a slot supervisor immediately.
Multiplier coupons may also cause problems. Some people have reported to me that with 5x General Manager coupons at Nola, the bonus points didn't arrive for two or more weeks. Another friend noticed that after a 10x multiplier at a different Harrahs property, bonus points showed up, but were not as much as expected. On checking, they got a "whoops we are so sorry" email, and the missing 18000 (!) bonus points were put on by hand (that is $180 in comps, a pretty large error).
If you are racking up a lot of points in Harrahs, my advice is to write down your tier and comp levels whenever you change machines, and keep track of how many points you expect for a multiplier.
Note, if you are getting a 5x multiplier, you've already been given 1x, so your increased points would be an extra 4x.
If you experience problems, contact www.Harrahs.com "contact us" email -- they seem pretty good about immediately fixing or checking on point problems.
That is also a good source to contact about any other problem at a Harrahs property.
I am sure Harrahs isn't the only place where people run into problems with vanishing points, but it sure seems to continue to have a lot of these problems.

I LOVED IT. Thanks for the treat!! Annie
[vpFREE] Ode To The Poser Pro
It was just after sup they were gamblin' it up
At the ya'll come back casino
For all to see the lady next to me
Was playin' a game called Volkeno
I was doin' the same but on a poker game
Tryin' to make a royal flush
But in the game it pays the same
So I'll take a joker royal flush
On the row just over a gamblin' rover
Lost and got up to leave
And then I seen his gamblin' machine
Return to the menu screen
The games were the same but something looked strange
At least from my faraway view
So I walked on over to the row just over
To see if I could get a clue
On the top of the screen of the gamblin' machine
Sat a brand new Joker game
A meter was runnin' to add to the funnin'
But for me it's all the same
A new game to play if I find an overlay
On this game called Joker's Vault
But it can't be sized and fully analyzed
On all that software I bought
No hill for me because you see
I ain't no poser pro
I'll leave the floor and hit the door
With all the casino's dough
There ain't no doubt I can figure it out
Don't even need paper or pen
When it comes to a play I'll find a way
I'm the best that's ever been
So I went to work on the gamblin' math dirt
But not like a poser pro fumbler
It was time for me to crunch and see
What was my playable number
There's different configurations across the nation
I don't know what yours will be
But here I can say I got a play
When the meter builds to three
It's a one joker game....a two joker game
But that don't make me a clown
Win 8 out of 10 when I'm in
And I'll take the meter down
I've rode freight trains through the Idaho rain
Not knowin' where I'm bound
I'm a hard ass tramp from the labor camps
Nothin' gets me down
That was then, this is now
I'm flush and good to go
Yeah, I'm doin' swell but I came from hell
And I ain't no poser pro

There's a lot of variation regarding this. Many are as you describe,
in which case I assume management wouldn't want the jackpot to flash
along with the current meter longer than it takes to pay the jackpot.
The current meter not being displayed at all until the jackpot has
been played off is a minority. I think, on the $1 multi-meter
progressive at Terrible's, only jackpots, and not the current meter,
flash on the screen above the machines until they're played off. I've
had to look on a machine to see the current meter there.

I heard of a technician in Atlantic City who was working on a machine
and, with max coins played, was dealt 4 to a royal. For the thrill, I
assume, he drew to it and hit it, which, considering the greater
strictness there than in Nevada, was probably quite an administrative
mess.
[vpFREE] Re: "Play it Off"
Well at our local casino, handpays start at 120$, and the attendants get confused whether they've paid you, so that's one reason to play it off (happened to me when I was playing penny slots [I know, I know, negative expectation]--got one hand pay then another two spins later, the attendant thought she had paid me off, and I said no she didn't because I HAD to play off the other one) Negative expectations still came to pass of course, but it's 3,000 miles to Vegas!!!

[vpFREE] Re: "Play it Off"
I always wonder why player DON'T play it off? Is that some superstitious thing? One more hand would not break the player who just won a jackpot.

[vpFREE] Re: Third Generation of Crooked Gaughns
just called Terrible's, sounds like this was an August promotion that has yet to be removed from their website. Nothing on the entry mentioning it's August only.
Great job, Terrible's webmaster!

Sounds like something you could take to gaming. It's pretty explicit right on their website: http://www.terriblescasinos.com/promos.php
Make sure you take screenshots.
Would appreciate if anyone else provides updates on this, was going to play it but obviously I'm not interested if they're not honoring it.

Re: [vpFREE] "Play it Off"
There is no regulation--public or confidential--that requires anyone play off a hand paid jackpot hand. You can refuse politely or rudely and no one will sanction you but someone nearby who is easily intimidated.

If I don't want to play that machine anymore I just tell the slot attendent
no. Once the slot attendent tried to insist I play it off, I told them no,
you can't make me make another bet. Then he just took his key and reset the
screen. no problem. I remember many years ago in Vegas Stardust and a few
others would put the coins in the machine out of the hopper and then ask you
to play it off on their money. Those were the days.

Why do some, but not all, slot attendants request that you "play it
off"-meaning your winning hand on the screen, after you have received a hand
pay?
Have any of you refused to do so? Any repercussions?
Sometimes, after I have hit a progressive, it is not worthwhile to put any
more $ through the machine. Or I want to cash out because I need a restroom
break or am tired and want to go home. It is not because "the machine is now
cold" - although many slot attendants are crazy superstitious and, I
suspect, would accept that as an explanation.
I am thinking that this isn't any sort of gaming regulation, or even
consistent policy within a company, as I sometimes have had different
experiences at the same casino. Certainly, this can't be to prove that the
machine is malfunctioning- I'd already been paid.
BTW, I'm grateful to need to ask about this "problem"!

Wow I have never been to the place so I don't know the history but that's messed up.

[vpFREE] Just returned from staying at RIO and Mandalay Bay - vpFREE2 rocks!
My wife and I just returned from Vegas where we stayed at RIO and Mandalay Bay. We had not been to Vegas since January and this was our first trip to Vegas on our "Royal Flush Tour". Normally I am a blackjack player but my wife and I took a great interest in video poker about 6 months ago and have been practicing ever since. We decided to start with $1 single line 9/6 Jacks or Better (per Jean's awesome book) and plan to play it exclusively until we hit a royal flush.
So we had a lot of fun using vpFree2.com on my cell phone and locating the VERY few machines available on the strip. We were both very thankful for this website and extremely happy to know it was up to date everywhere we went. I don't know how people played video poker in the past without this site! :)
NYNY - Still has 9/6 FP JOB but you can not put a players card into the machine. The website said "no comps" but we did not know exactly what that meant but as soon as we sat down at the machines we realized. :)
MGM - We found 2 out of the 4 machines available in the high limit room!
Gold Coast - We fell in love with this place due to their numerous machines. Yes we realize that 9/6 is still a losing game but we're just getting into video poker so right now that's all we care about. :) It was very nice to sit down and play right at a bar...not to mention have bar tenders who immediately serve you a free drink. (most other places these days seem to want to charge us first and then give us free ones once they see we're actually playing...and playing a lot). My friend didn't care for the "Ben Gay" vibe of the casino but my wife/I did not mind the older crowd at all. I'd much rather be in a place with easy going older folks rather than drunk idiots of our age.
Anyway, I decided I would finally start my website where I am putting my own personal reviews and fun gambling advice. I know there are 40 million sites out there all ready but my friends constantly ask me so from now on I have a place to refer them.
Here's the one i did for RIO:
