I have a similar question abut the Kelly Criterion.  Ultimately, it's utility that matters.  The Kelly Criterion is applicable because it recognizes that money has diminishing marginal utility, but it's anybody's guess as to how accurately it estimates that utility.

What does Bayes' Theorem say the estimate is after 1 pick?  I don't see how the changing estimate of the probability of the truth of the original theory that the $1, the $5, and the $1000 were equally likely can be quantified.

An example: There's a kiosk promotion, you might play a video poker machine depending on the EV of the kiosk promotion. In the promotion, you have a choice of three boxes, and it says the value behind each box is either $1, $5, or $1000, and after you make your choice, the other boxes are revealed so you can verify this. Your initial estimate of EV is: (1+5+1000)/3 = $335.33 . You use your watch's second hand to randomize your pick (every gambler knows how to do this, right?) and after 10 picks you've received $1 every time. What's your estimate of EV now? Still sticking with $335.33? How many picks of $1 will it take before you realize it's a weighted or even fixed promotion? Or will you just play forever on the assumption that your initial guess at EV must be 100% correct? Your luck has to turn eventually, right?

[vpFREE] Re: Harrahs Atlantic City: Section DD?

The best thing is to go into the casino and:

1) ask a slot attendant, or other personel of the casino, where section DD would be.
2) check one of the property map stations they have...one being when you walk in from the parking garage and another just outside of the Diamond Cove high limit room.
3) follow these directions...
When you enter the casino from the parking garage you come down the escalator and follow the marble floor to your left. You follow the marble floor STRAIGHT through about 1/2 of the casino. When the marble floor angles to the left, stop, look around you for a triad configuration of vp machines. These are them.

Re: [vpFREE] Barona

good morning. Just so you know in NOV many of us were told we would no longer get any point multiplier as of DEC. Since we live in Vegas we played it hard for 8 months knowing we would burn ourselves out even if they didn't change the rule on VP for all players. Doing 300k - 400,000k coin in on 7-8-9 xs point days adds up while it lasted ! Happy Holidays to all !

Just got my January mailer. "Beginning January 2017, when you play video poker on a point multiplier day, you will earn 3X points". Candy store closed. Gone are the days of high denomination multiline NSUD with accurate Autohold and up to 1.1% cash back. It was fun while it lasted.

At least they didn't reduce the payback or cut the multiplier to zero or do away with points altogether, like many casinos do.
