I don't know usually I write much about my gambling, which is often a saga of losing, but today was unusual in that I finally got a dealt royal flush on a multi line machine. It was a $.25 ultimate X, with one 3X on one line for a $5000 jackpot at the Rio. A really neat thing was that I was playing with free play, because I had gone to Caesars Great Gift Wrap Up and turned most of my points into free play.
The thing about the dealt Royals, is that they are so frustratingly infrequent. And even though I play multiline games at least 20 times more frequently than single line games, I believe the number of times I have had a dealt Royal is actually about 5 on single line and 5 on multiline, which seems totally unfair. About 13 years ago I had my first multi line Royal (4 lines, 25 cent, at Hard Rock), in a few months later in the same year I had my second (3 lines, 25 cent, Gold Coast). It was 4 years later that I finally had a dollar one (5 line $1 at Palms) (9 years ago). And then after that the frustration grew and grew as I played tons of five line VideoPoker without another dealt royal. Six years after that I played on a machine that I very very rarely ever played on and got one (that's 3 years ago -- I got a 10 line $.25 dealt royal at the Palms). And since then more frustration has set in until today's dealt royal on 3 play.
One thing I cannot help but notice is that despite all my play on the dollar machines, four out of my five dealt multiline Royals have been on quarter machines. And the amount of play I have had on dollar multiline machines is far and away greater than on quarter multilines.
Purists will of course say it is all the luck of the draw, not enough of a sample in only 15 years of play.....whatever. All I can say is thank goodness for the royal, and it sure is frustrating and infuriating!
