I suggest you consider getting another accountant.

Until recently, I would have agreed with this statement. But when I went
through the audit last year, my accountant told me "If it makes you feel any
better, practically every client I have that has itemized gambling losses is
being audited this year".

Best "Misattribution of Cause Story" CONTEST Entry

Urban Legend regurgitations on vpFREE saying that:

Bob Dancer was a consultant at XYZ casino and the casino later
reduced the pay table on their best video poker games and/or
Bob outed several advantage players, etc..

These posts are speculative at best. And they don't consider
that all casinos have been reducing paytables in recent years
and that Bob may have stopped the casino from making even
steeper downgrades.

[vpFREE] Re: Had a good year in 2010

Hi group, don't mean to take over this thread however, I too have a few questions regarding gambling taxes.

This will be my first year with W2G's. I understand that in order to declare gambling losses up to the amount won you need to itemize. However, what option is there beside itemizing your losses? Would you then accept the wins without offsetting the losses?

Thanks,

Manuel

[vpFREE] Re: People That Live in Brick Houses Can Throw Stones

I agree and Pascal was clearly intelligent enough to realize as much. This is one of the reasons I believe he was a closet atheist that wrote such thing deliberately to appease the church and allow him to publish things that had been deemed heresy before.

Trivia Note: Heresy was taken from a Greek word which meant, "to choose" or "have choices". I guess we can all understand why that turned into a curse in the minds of the church.

Indeed that is a dilemma, but it's better than being impaled on the horn of a mono-lemma.

Marvin,

Congratulations on your wins! A member of my family found themselves in a similar situation last year and had not kept good records of their prior wins and losses. So they decided to create an app for the iPhone that would help with keeping a diary. If you are an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad user, please visit the iTunes store for a free download of the software:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/winloss-slot-players-diary/id408765252?mt=8&ls=1

We are interested feedback on the app, so if you have any suggestions for us, please contact me through vpFREE, email, or our website at: http://www.sandcroft.net/send-winloss-feedback/

Best Regards,
Alan

Gee whiz. Nine cents on $5,000.00 action. You apparently consider
yourself a pro to be concerned about that. Did you note that I suggested
that pros hold the two pair?

If you would like to send me a copy of the strategy chart that you use,
I'd be happy to evaluate it and see what other losses there might be.

Re: [vpFREE] Another Perk from the 7 stars insider

Hi Ned,
There are some great airline deals going on now on bookit.com and also allegiant.com, you just have to get them to send you updates on low fares during the time allotted, and you'd be surprised. We had a helper drive me out here last Nov. when we moved here and flew her back home for only $79 through allegiant. There are many more sites that will keep you updated..the only unfortunate thing is that it may be a last minute Crazy Great Deal so, unless you can take a trip according to their timing of the deals, you might not be able to utilize them.

I've seen the billboard on the Atlantic City Expressway. Sound's like a good deal, if you didn't have to pay your own plane ticket.

Free Stay At Atlantis, Paradise Island

Seven Stars cardholders may be able to get three free nights at Atlantis, Paradise Island, now through March 29, 2011.  While

the promotion is aimed at those with "premium cards" from Atlantic City

casinos, a Seven Stars card has no specific casino associated with it,

so I should think nearly anyone would qualify.  Reservations must be made through Casino VIP Services to qualify for this promotion.  Call (800)-PLAY-711 [(800) 752-9711] and mention "AC Billboard Promo".  Reservations through any other source will not qualify.  Your stay must be booked by March 29, 2011, for travel through March 29, 2011.  Details at: http://www.atlantis.com/casino/acpromotion.aspx.  [Note: Diamond cardholders may qualify for a more limited offer, so check the Web site for details.]
