Re: [vpFREE] Stations - New Slot Club Calculations

Right, 6x points is really 2x points since 3x points is the regular rate.

So when they advertise 6x points – it's really the equivalent of 2x points, right?????

I think it's a different way of saying the same thing (no change). Since Sept 2011 it's been $1=1 tier point and 3 comp points. The over 100% are $4=1 point (tier and comp). There are some multiple point days that are individual (in mailer) and some for all players but that is comp points only, it's still $1=1 tier point (just like Boyd) and point multipliers don't apply to the over 100% games.

I just saw a Station mailer and see it is talking about  points in a different way –   Their present system has always been hard to figure out because they state it differently than other casinos:
  • $1 Coin-In = 3 Points on Most Video Poker
  • Cash, Free Play or Comps: 1000 Points = $1 (0.30%)
Now they are touting that "The Boarding Pass gives you More.....Easy to Earn $1= 1 point... Get 3x points on all games everyday.  Guaranteed point multipliers every day."  Then there is an * (isn't there always?) and a note that says:  "Earn rate will vary and all point multipliers are excluded on 100% payback video poker machines.  Complete details available at the rewards center."

When does "all" mean "not all"?

I would have to see these details to decide whether this is a downgrade, an upgrade, or just a different way of describing the same value as always.  Anyone seen these details yet?????

[vpFREE] Re: XVP -- rental cars

John,

re "loss of use", first check your benefits under your auto ins and any applicable credit card rental coverage.  You'll likely find you're fully covered (particularly under card coverage with the like of Citi, etc.)

A few years ago, on this subject, I recounted my experience with a leisure rental that was involved in an accident while sitting in traffic.  The repair was close to $10k.

Because we were car owners at the time, I sough coverage through the credit card used for the charge.  It happened that this was a secondary issuer, now defunct.  The repairs were pocked up, but I didn't have loss of use coverage, and Avis sough another $450 from me.  On the phone they were very nice and with modest prompting offered to accept 50%.  Good enough for me (but I now make sure I use a card that covers loss of use charges under its rental coverage.

You actually make the reservation with the rental company through a portal from the Costco website.  Any selected discount codes are automatically entered into your reservation.

Alternatively, you can do what I do and make a note of the desired discount codes and then manually log into my account at the rental website, preserving any additional benefits I have there under my avvound (e.g. Avis Preferred/First, Budget Fastbreak, etc).  I then manually enter the codes into a reservation request.

[vpFREE] Re: XVP -- rental cars

Does anyone have any actual experience with loss of use charges on a rental car or know where to start looking to find the Nevada statute on the subject?

This is a potentially very expensive item and I'd like to be prepared. If a rental car company can actually charge the 'off the street' rate for 30 days with no burden of proof on actual repairs, then any accident has the potential to incur a fee that could be in the thousands. I'd like to have the actual Nevada state law on the subject but haven't been able to find it yet.

Does Costco accept coupons at the time the reservation is made, or do you have to do something with the car rental company?

Re: [vpFREE] Stations - New Slot Club Calculations

The purpose of this is to make it 3x harder to achieve the various tier levels.    Also some offers say if you earn xx points you get $yy free slot play and your points are based on tier points before any multipliers so you have to earn 3x the amount of play as previously.

Using Optimum Video Poker, or most any other VP game analyzer, enter
such a hand and analyze it. We find that there are 615 quads out of the
16215 possible outcomes, or about one chance in 26.365
