An Italian restaurant, Vetri Cucina, is now open on the 19th floor of the Palms with spectacular views. It seems weird to me that they get rid of a perfectly good Italian Nove and get another one, replacing the fabulous Alize French restaurant which I considered the best Vegas restaurant. I had many wonderful meals there with friends and relatives over 17 or so years. I will miss it.
Does anyone know if hosts will comp it?
Meanwhile we received several unexpected vouchers for Lucky Penny cafe due to the James Bond Slot promo which arrived via email. Penny's food is pretty good, and portions are large while prices are low. We had trouble spending $75 for two people, so bought about $25 worth of cookies and pastries to take home. (And we took home leftovers good for another meal too..). Milkshakes have limited flavors but are large enough for 2 people. The loaded potato soup is weird with a pile of French Fries on top. Menu is eclectic with breakfast favorites, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, some Chinese, burgers and entrees interspersed with oddities and vegetarian entrees.
The walkway from the west end continues to be strange as it goes through the construction area. Although you can get to the first garage safely, walking out into the parking lot or over to the Palms Place is risky, so be careful once you leave the covered tunnel.
Construction continues on all sides of the Palms, and when finished the place will be a lot larger.
Also construction of shops in the former empty lot to the east (toward the strip) is now taking place and you can see some buildings forming. There will be a drugstore, eateries, and other shops in this new shopping area (not owned by Stations apparently).
