People get banned from GROCERY STORES?
C'mon man!

If you've ever worked at a grocery store, you'd be struck by some of the
similarities. Yes they have loss leaders but did you know that they also
ask people who buy only the loss leaders not to come back?

No, I didn't know that.
I've never heard of a grocery store asking someone not to come back because they only purchase sale items.
How does this work? Does the cashier call a Security Guard? Do they tell the shopper he will be trespassed next time?
Do they backroom the shopper and call in Metro?
This sounds ridiculous to me, whether you've worked in a grocery store or not.

Also Stations and Fiestas have brought back point multipliers for Senior Wednesdays at least for March.
From their websites:
$1 = 10 Points on Slots.
$1 = 6 Points on Video Poker.
[vpFREE] Re: Gambling With an Edge
If you've ever worked at a grocery store, you'd be struck by some of the
similarities. Yes they have loss leaders but did you know that they also ask
people who buy only the loss leaders not to come back? And if you're
selling lots of items that you're not making a profit on to stay competitive,
how do you stay in business over the long term? You don't.
I'm afraid I have to agree with Bob Dancer's arguments here. The casinos
don't owe AP players near- or better-than-100% games. They don't care if
they lose the AP business because AP is only break even. So what if AP players
put through a lot more volume. A 500% increase still nets out to zero. I'm
not saying anything that everybody on both sides doesn't know.
We also have the option of not showing up. If you can't or won't exercise
this option then you need to reconsider what your long-term goals are.
When I started gambling in 1994, I made myself a promise that I would
gamble only if I had a decent chance of coming out ahead. Two years ago that
decent chance narrowed to near break even & I've been losing due to the
narrow margins & changes which the casinos have enacted. It is still possible to
be a long-term winner but it requires more discipline, traveling & work
which is not for me. If I'd been true to my promise I would have quit two
years ago when I saw the changes coming but I enjoy it too much to quit so now
I have a different model which involves including friends & family on what
are essentially cheap vacations & I've used these to hold a lot of
get-togethers & family reunions. Yes, I'm still losing but it's less than what I
would have had to pay out-of-pocket for all these events.
I do miss the good old days where the games were much better but I never
was in it to be a full-timer even though I realized how lucrative it could be
early on. My goals were to come out ahead & have fun doing it. By using
comps, promotions, drawings, etc. I was able to achieve both & I'm still
having fun (but I still have problems with my temper during losing streaks).
The significant change in the model are the number of trips that I take
now. I used to average 10 - 14 days per month. This year I've only had 2 trips
for a total of 7 days & this trend will probably continue even though I've
had plenty of good offers. Passing up these offers has become a lot easier
with the recent rallies in the stock market (it made letting the offers
expire seem insignificant).
This model works for me but I don't advocate it for everyone else. However,
I think everyone should periodically do an honest reassessmnet of their
goals in light of the current & future changes. Then come up with a model
that fits your situation knowing that the good old days aren't coming back.
PS I forgot to mention that I try not to swim upstream. If casinos make
changes which are highly detrimental, then I change too. In the last 2 years,
I've shifted my heavy play to some new casinos. Still losing but at least I
feel the love. Moral: If you can't win, go for love.

The grocery store carries plenty of items they don't make a
profit on, to stay competitive.
Milk in California cannot be sold for less than cost (silly)
because it was such a loss leader.

[vpFREE] Re: Gambling With an Edge
$10 million coin in is 8000000 hands which is about 20000 hours of play at 400 hands/hour (833 days of play)on the slow Sams Town machines. I dont think management cares about $50k over that long of a time period. This is taking into consideration that everyone is playing perfect and the machines are played 24 hours a day which they are not. The casino could be making a lot more than that with any other game, a highly volatile game. Turnover is what they seek not a knowledgeable player sitting at a machine for 8 straight hours. The penny machines at that casino get heavy play and I'm sure that's what they eventually be replaced with. I think its really good advice. I'm looking at this from the view of a casino which Ive happened to work in before so I was able to see coin in and out reports for players and machines. Local casinos keep these machines for bragging rights as having the "loosest vp machines in town." You dont see this kind of advertising from strip casinos hence they have no need to have full pay machines taking up valuable slot floor space. I went to the MGM recently and over 40 of the poker machines going up to $5 have been replaced with slots and multi-line video reels, and you know what? There making more money. The machines were packed with people playing max bet. If and when all the FPDW disappear I guarantee at least %90 percent of these players will resort to another poker game that has a higher hold or is more volatile. Look at the jackpot pictures everywhere, there are plenty of people content with playing short pay vp.

[vpFREE] Harrah's Rincon VISA gift cards
It used to be possible to buy VISA gift cards at the Rewards Center with Total Rewards points. Since last fall they have not had any, and always claim they are waiting for a shipment and the cards are back ordered by VISA. Today they told me they will not be available until April 1st when the club changes, and then they will be sold through the gift shop.

Uh, wouldn't lowering the pay schedule be the same as getting rid of them?
The term "full pay deuces" refers to a specific pay table - anything worse is simply not full pay deuces.
[vpFREE] more re Escape to Rewards Harrah's contest
To find the game, log into caesars.com and look lower down on the screen
where it shows several different items such as Margaritaville and other
things, and you can use arrows to bring out the small Escape logo, click on it
to bring up the game. (Sometimes the game or these items will be in the
larger screen).
I looked more at the rules and so on, and supposedly 1 out of 2 game
entries brings up a game piece, but my husband and I each had 10 codes last
night and only got 1 game piece. I checked today, and the various Facebook
pages for different Harrah's properties had new codes, so these may change
daily, giving you enough codes to get 10 entries (your limit) per day.
On the other hand, there are 48 game squares on the grid to fill -- if you
were to enter 10 codes a day for 90 days (the contest time) and got 1
square a day, you'd get 90 squares in 90 days. But -- some of the squares are
"unique" and some are not - and it seems like you'd easily end up getting
some of the same squares over and over and maybe not the unique squares and
would have a hard time filling the 48 different squares even if you had
gotten 90 or 90+ actual squares.
Also, you get codes for playing at Harrah's properties or getting a point
for paying for restaurants and so on. But these codes only show up once a
month, April 9, May 9, and June 9 -- and once you get these codes, you still
are limited by entering 10 a day.
On top of that, if you win some of the instant prizes, like $10 or $15 or
$20 credits toward various "Marketplace" stores, like Best Buy and so on -
in some instances (according to the complicated rules) you have to use these
within 3 days or maybe 10 days (it varies).
The rules are sooooo darn complicated it seems the dumbest contest ever.
A contest is supposed to make you LIKE something more than you did before.
But in this case after a couple days it is already leaving a bad taste in
my mouth. When a contest ends up making you dislike the goods being
promoted (in this case Harrah's/Caesar's) rather than like them, when you try to
play, it is bad marketing.
And I doubt that Harrah's will give away nearly the amount they are saying
they will in the end.
Also, the Grand Prizes may not be worth taking, except for the cash. For
example the main grand prize has a "value" of $50,000 - taking a special jet
with 4 friends to a Harrah's property. But you would have to declare
$50,000 on your tax return, and maybe pay 20% of it in IRS income tax! Hardly
worthwhile for what is essentially just a trip to a Harrah's property.
You can take Cash instead -- but only $10,000 (not $50,000) -- still that
would seem like the better option.
So should anyone win a prize, my advice is to check the rules (posted
online) for the fine print before using/accepting said prize.
