I just an email from my favorite rental car site, autoslash.com. My 4 day reservation, 12/11 through 12/15, is now $64.83 with Hertz for an economy car. Base rate is $11/day plus they found a $20 Hertz discount someplace.
If you are visiting Las Vegas in December and renting a vehicle, I suggest you take a look at the rental car rates. carrentals.com is another good site for finding low rates.
I had a $69 rate with Payless, but Payless can be a challenge to work with. Last time, they didn't include their perks discount when I checked in ( even though it was on the reservation booked through their website). The guy at the desk gave me a number to call and take care of it over the phone. I called the number and the person who answered said there is nothing they could do. When I dropped off the vehicle, I had to go to the desk again to get it resolved. I had to make 3 additional contacts just to fix their mistake.
I use payless when I have to but if I can find a rate that is close from a major player, I'll go with that. In this case, I get a better rate and a major player. By the way, Fox was about $56 for the same rental but that involves a second shuttle bus and takes another 20 minutes each way. I'll stick with Hertz for the additional $9.
