You said it was an artform - I am sincere when I say that I would like
any pointers you can give me.

I have two chapters on that in my "Million Dollar Video Poker." Both my
novels have dealing-with-hosts tips in there as well. Jean has a number
of tips on this subject in her books.

Xxxent wrote to DB: It's time to come to terms that you simply aren't

I find this interesting --- although not for the usual reasons.

The administrator told us (largely because of these two) not to
call each other names. But here we have xxxent saying DB is NOT funny.
If he had said DB was unfunny, that would be violating the
administrator's ruling. But saying he was not funny, which is
tautologically equivalent, doesn't seem to violate this. Pretty clever!

I'll take a stab at it. Let's assume that on the particular video poker
machine that you are playing, the casino has assigned a 3.5% theo. to that
game, in other words, they are assuming that you will lose that percentage
on all the coin in that you play on that machine. If you happen to find a
machine with your same VP game on it with the same paytable, but also
includes nickel Lucky Lucy's Lapdance Lion Fish video slot on it and
erroneously assigned the 7% theo. for that idiot game to your VP game, you
have stumbled on a comp. bonanza. If the casino in question is comping at a
rate of 30% of your theo. on the first machine, for every $100K you put
through over time, you would be entitled to $1,050.00 in comps. The same VP
game on the Lucy machine would net you double that, or $2,100.00. Of course,
the difficult part of this little magic trick is how to determine the
casino's theo. assignments on both machines. Good luck with that.

Re: [vpFREE]HET Associated Accounts - playing with spouse's card

Last Summer HET sent me info on "Associated Accounts".
I too was skeptical and hubby and I never had our accounts
"associated". For more info go to:
http://www.harrahs.com/associated/index.html
The only benefit that I can see from this is that it would give
each other access to the other's Rewards Credits.

Most casinos these days do not even offer joint accounts. Most want each
player to have their own account number, although some casinos will "link"
accounts of spouses. It is usually better to not let a casino link your
accounts, but sometimes this happens without your knowledge.

[POKERHOLICS - Also at Myspace!!] My latest Bustout...

Ok, 20 players left, paying nine.... I have an above average stack @
the Poker N'Ponies tournament of about 16K at this point.

UTG limps, fold around to the small blind who completes, and I give my
customary, "Deal!" Flop comes down, 9 7 2 rainbow, small blind checks,
I check, UTG moves all in. UTG player had arrived at the table about
four or five hands before, so, I didn't have a read on him. Small
blind calls the all in, and is covered. I've got the second most chips
at the table at this point, and UTG came to the table and became chip
leader.

I look down and find K9.

What do you do?

I called, and came against pocket Aces from the UTG guy. Small blind
completed with a 9 3 So, I'm only getting 2:1 on my money as a
practical 4:1 dog.

I know, I should've folded, right?

Oh, a 3 came on the river, so, I was still busted out, however, I'm
glad the guy that limped with aces got punished for it :)

post up and let's discuss,
Mike

Gosh, Bob, I'll have to leave it to other vpFREE members to decide
whether it is worse to refer to unsolicited hosts as "pesky" or to
suggest the "care and feeding" of them as if they were pets.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Follow-up to "pesky host" question - playing with spouse's card

Our yearly play is just enough to get us a Diamond Rating. 7* would be impossible for us.

It all depends on how much coin you plan to put through (which
depends on many things such as your bankroll, time you have to devote
to casino play, the attractiveness of the available games at the
casino in question, the "tier levels" for a casino, etc.). With
light play, spouses may be better off by playing under one account at
*some* casinos. With medium to heavy play, my experience is that a
couple is almost always better off splitting the play over two
accounts - otherwise the one account simply gets "overqualified" for
the bounce back benefits, (to use Bob Dancer's terminology).
