I thought "pat" meant to hold all 5 cards. Is a pair of aces a "pat"
pair? I can't imagine what a "pat four" would be.

Re: [vpFREE] Newbie Strategy Questions

Wow, great info! I appreciate your knowledge and the time you took to respond. Thank you!!

I can see I have some more research to do on volatility and payout vs comps. I guess it would make sense if comps were better that the extra 1% might not be as important.

There are a number of reasons why people would pick 9/6 JoB instead of full pay deuces.

1. It is a less volatile game.
2. It is more widely available.
3. It is available in higher denominations and in many formats i.e. spinpoker, 3 play 5 play etc. I doubt that you will ever find full pay deuces in more than a single line quarter format.
4. If you are concerned with comps and good casino mailers, you will not likely find it playing FP deuces.
5. You will usually get much less points playing deuces.

As to your other questions

   1. 2 to a royal flush, J, Q high
-- Does this mean that the J,Q is the only combination? Or a J, Q or Higher?
This means the following combos, 10,J ; 10,Q ; J,Q only.

    2. 2 consecutive singletons, 6-7 or higher
-- Confused on the term singleton. Is a singleton just a card?
This means holding a deuce with a suited 6,7 or 7,8 or 8,9 or 9,10. I don't know why he uses the singleton terminology.

    3. Any pat four.
-- Not sure what "pat" means.

Pat means that you keep the cards. i.e. if dealt 2,2,6,6,k you throw the K and keep the rest. If it was 2,6,6,6, K you pitch the K.

I appoligize in advance if this is something that has already been answered. I have searched through the topics and cant seems to find what I was looking for. If there is a link or a good book someone could recomend im all ears.

The first question that I find confusing is why people on the internet seem to choose Jacks or Better or Bonus games over games like Deuces Wild? DW games can be found with a 100.76% payout while JOB and Bonus seem to pay under 100%. Im currently trying to learn DW because the Station casions that like to go seem to have FP DW games (so the internet says). I just wanted to get someone elses take on it... Maybe there is a reason I should switch games or should be memorizing strategy for a couple good games.

The other thing is the Strategy itslef. I do know basic poker but some of the terms are quite confusing and not easily found on google. If someone could just explain the following things I would really be greatfull! These strategy terms were taken off of the wizard of odds site for Deuces Wild.

RE: [vpFREE] Newbie Strategy Questions

I play JOB because my money lasts longer, lower variance, easier strategy less mistakes.  I enjoy it better than dueces.
Good luck to you.

RE: Re: [vpFREE] RE: RE: RE: Full House vs Three Aces in 10/7 DB

I think your thinking of 2-Pair at MSS.

"Normal" non-penalty strategy is :

3 Aces 50.54
Full House 50.00

2 Pair 8.83
Pair Aces 8.81

With the scratch cards at MSS holding 3 Aces is still the right play (even more so).  Breaking two pair with Aces is now marginally the right decision assuming quarter play.
