I'm familiar with those. The $1 BP on three of them is still 8/5.

Look on the other side of table games from that bar (in the "new" section). That's where you'll find two 25c 3/5/10 plays with 8/5 BP (at least as of today). The other one is still down the steps from registration. These new locations were mentioned here and listed in vpFREE2 about two weeks ago.

I know bout the 6 multi play machines that were moved next to the bar. I checked and they had 7/5 BP, didn't see 8/5. Maybe I'm delusional. There is still one bank with decent pay tables in the new area, bank of 10, but I guarantee those will be killed eventually. Played this morning and did alright but I miss the selection throughout the casino. I did see Marci the other night while I attended the tourny James. John is my host as well but his move wasn't that recent, I think its been at least a year now, hasn't it?

[vpFREE] Re: Hard Rock is now downgrading single line VP????

Recent HRH casino downgrading isn't surprising. Up until a month ago Joe Magliarditi and his travelling Casino Manager Richard Strafella were in charge, but only briefly. If you remember, within the past year or so, the HRH GM killed himself and these guys came over from the M in a big industry announcement.

The M's always been a decent place for players--but not all players. Joe Mag & Strafella opened the M after a stint at the helm of the Colorado Belle & Edgewater in Laughlin--two of the best places for lower limit to play in that town.

But, I happen to agree with Valerie on how locals should be more concerned with what's going on in their casinos rather than complaining about what the touristy joints do. The Hard Rock is still reeling from all the $$$ spent on its expansion, and now they appear to be struggling even more. I know John Krauskoph too. He bailed ship when the Palms wasn't doing well and unless those type jobs are hard to come by these days, he won't stay on the HRH either.

[vpFREE] Re: Hard Rock is now downgrading single line VP????

The new management (Gary Loveman) types that are changing the gambling landscape believe that demand for the Las Vegas product is still strong. This is incorrect. Casinos will continue to spread into other locals as long as their chief product is gambling instead of the bs on the strip. The casino building growth halt is the first step toward an eventual reduced demand for Vegas. I hope I am wrong, but Casino management doesn't know how to milk a good play. They are headed full speed to burn it up.

[vpFREE] Story on Blackjack Player's $5.8 Win at AC Trop

Interesting story in the NY Post today on a player's win at the Tropicana
Atlantic City. The casino had raised the minimum at the table and also
offered him a 20% rebate on any losses. Sure there is more to the story that
is here but still offers some insights.

They are going with the Harrah's profile. Nothing playable, all gamblers are suckers. They think they can survive on the pool, food and music venue revenues. I don't know if Frank was talking to a cocktail waitress, but I'm sure they're hurting bad. Shout out to Marci and Windy! The last time I was there in April, there were very few people in the casino.

Can Frank or Bob talk to the new casino manager, Mr. Warner. I'm going to forward this to John Krouskopf, who left the Palms for the HRH recently.

Up 'till now I had nothing to add to this thread because I had not been the HR in a few months. I went in two days ago and had this discussion with a floor person I know.

FK: Everything seems to have been moved or changed, do you know where the best games are now? I thought there was still some 9/6 JoB somewhere.

Floor Person (Paraphrased): Oh it's probably been taken out. The new owners are killing us. You know if the players aren't doing well it hurts our tips. Nobody's winning now and we aren't making any money either. We have complained, but they aren't listening.

FK: I'm sorry to hear that. What do you think is going to happen to this place?

Floor Person (Paraphrased): Nothing good. I'm looking for another job already. Have you heard of anywhere that's hiring. You have juice, don't you?

FK: I do have juice, but it's pomegranate and hard to drink straight.

Floor Person (Paraphrased): Huh...What?

FK: Oh it was a joke...sorry. I'll look into it and see what I can do.

[vpFREE] Re: Tips

One thing to keep in mind when tipping is to tip based on a percentage of the theoretical win and not a percentage of the actual jackpots.

I use 5% of theo as a maximum. When you hit a Royal Flush on the Palms deuces, 5% of the Jackpot would be around $50. This is an over-tip because even though the JP is $1,000+ the overlay is not nearly that large.

You're expecting to lose around $580 to hit the Royal on that bank making a reasonable tip in the neighborhood of $20. $420 x .5 = $21.

If you were at the new M progressive and hit a JP for $2,600 the theo could be as low as $300 and a $20 would still be in order, because the game cost is much higher. If you hit one of the $4,000+ JP's at M you could tip as much as $75 and not be cutting significantly into your earn as your theo at that high a play number is well over $1,500.

To protect your EV you have to ignore JP size and tip based on theo.

5% has always seemed reasonable to me. This is of course just my opinion. This is one of those issues where there might not be a perfect strategy. Too many human elements.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Hard Rock is now downgrading single line VP????

"Yes I call the youngsters who are buying the $5 cupcakes for sale at the casino coffee shop dumb. Not to mention the $15 fancy drink, or $4 bagel and butter, or $6 muffin. The casinos do fine with their bottom line with these youngsters who seem to have unlimited funds.
But you won't see many locals paying these prices. Even with comps, it is ridiculous the prices that are charged."

But what do you think Las Vegas is really all about? Do you think all of these expensive beautiful casinos, resorts, shows, etc are all for the locals who live in the city? I live in an area that is very expensive for tourists as well (though nothing like Las Vegas) - and I understand that.
I'm sorry, but I don't think that the giant casinos are going to die without the locals business. Sam's Town, Station Casinos and all the others depend a lot more on that.

Yes, tourists come and go - over and over and over again. Conventions, etc etc etc do come and go and bring in tons of money with each one.
Wow - you can't see Las Vegas for what it is considered to be all over the world - you can't excuse the casinos for getting what they can to support what it costs to keep that going.
Perhaps you are too close since you live there and it's your everyday world.....Mind you, I'm talking about the properties on the Strip in this regard.
