That's similar to Dotty's system, and several other casinos. It's also similar to a loss rebate system. You should play high variance because you either want to win big or lose big, near breakeven results are no good. Try doubling down on wins (reverse Martingale). In regular video poker, you should give serious consideration to playing max-non-royal strategy (set the royal value to zero in a strategy generator) because this will most likely give you minimal losses (actually optimally low losses) that are sufficient in the case of video poker to generate good mailers but you will still eventually hit a royal, at which point you walk away for some cool off period, maybe 3 months, to reset the tracking, and start again. Play at other casinos during the cool off period, you don't have to go cold turkey. Have fun!
Minor detail: A Martingale (double up losses) gives a pattern of small wins and an eventual big loss (to satisfy the gambling gods sense of justice), a reverse Martingale (double up wins) gives a pattern of small losses and an eventual big win.
