[vpFREE] Re: Council Bluff Casinos

If you stay at Horseshoe, you can choose on of their four partner hotels, since they don't have a hotel. These include, I think, Country Inn and Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, and a few others. These are nice hotels, with pools free internet, and next to the casino.

The Diamond Club at Horseshoe is nice but the food wasn't great the one time I was there. The Diamond Club at Harrah's takes up the whole third floor of the boat and is very spacious. Food is the same at both properties.

Harrah's is on a boat; Horseshoe is land based. Horseshoe is very easy to get to off I-80; Harrah's is about 1 mile further on city roads.

The 'Shoe is better in almost every respect, and is right next to the greyhound track. I would recommend it.

Better VIP lounges, with better choice of "real" food? Not interested in gourmet restaurants - buffet choices?

I stand corrected. I mistakenly copied something from the WRONG notes.

So .9% the game itself, plus .3% cashback, plus whatever bounceback, is still not too shabby.

And thanks for pointing out my error, 5-card. It is probably the first time in my life I have ever made a mistake, so I'm going to have to watch that shit from now on.

I'm not going to argue the point ad nauseum, but playing ANY video poker game regardless of the pay table for a period less than a million hands is "statistically insignificant". I just cannot get into the mindset of walking away "winner" or "loser" for the day. It means nothing. I have NEVER thought like that, even when I was a teenager and still wet behind the ears. If the concept of a "winning day" is that important, then I recommend getting a job.

Even as a poker player "having a winning day" has never meant squat to me. Playing correctly and playing with a mathematical edge, is the ONLY thing that matters.

I wouldn't carry the card. They just ask for your SS. Then again I only know about a 4K jackpot, others that play the big bucks would have to post.

With more and more discussions about Identity Thief, is it still a good Idea to carry the card with you. Our State doesn't have a SSN on the Drivers License and I certainly don't want any problems collecting a large jackpot, hitting them is hard enough.

[vpFREE] Council Bluff Casinos

We are taking a road trip to IN and PA, leaving next week, and thought we would use free 7* rooms on a one or two night stop-over rest in Council Bluffs. I didn't realize that there were two casinos there - Harrah's CB and Horseshoe CB. Since we have never been there, I would appreciate any input as to which one we should choose. Nicer rooms? Better VIP lounges, with better choice of "real" food? Not interested in gourmet restaurants - buffet choices?

Is vpFREE2 up to date? I see that Harrah's has the higher EV VP choice although we probably won't be playing much.

Brad used to like to watch the dogs race in Florida. Is the Shoe right at the Greyhound track.

We are traveling I-80 and going to Hammond Horseshoe when we leave CB. Which one is nearest I-80 or is there not a big difference?

Any other factors we should consider? TIA for any helpful info.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Tunica Trip Report

The database makes it sound like it's close to the entrance, but it's not
(anymore?). All VP is either at (a) the bars or (b) in a big section, on the
right half of the casino, about 3/4ths of the way back. You can't miss it
since it's all together. There are a few banks of 6 - 3 on one side, 3
facing the opposite direction. It's one of those banks. The machines FACING
the FRONT of the casino are the 15/11 APDW. The machines facing the BACK of
the casino at the 15/9. Hope this helps, and good luck.

[vpFREE] Re: Social Security Card for Jackpot Wins?

The only casino I know that requires a social security card is Potawatomi in Milwaukee. If you don't carry it you can come back at a later date with it or have Fed. taxes withheld at a 28% rate.

Re: [vpFREE] Social Security Card for Jackpot Wins?

As others have said, you shouldn't need your SS card on you to get
paid for a jackpot. In my experience the only extra step this may
cause is that, in addition to the W2G, some places may ask you to fill
out a form W9, which is just a simple IRS form where you certify that
your SSN is what you say it is (it's a CYA for the casino). In
particularly annoying cases the casino policy may require a W9 with
every W2G even though they're all going to be the same.
