[vpFREE] Changes at the Majestic Star

On Sunday, I wrote about eight new machines on the Majestic Star 2 with full pay VP on them. Last Sunday these machines (At least the one that my mom and I played.) were $5 per point (I did not mention that here because I thought they would see it and change it.). As of today, all of these are $50 per point (1 point = 1c to top two card tiers and 1/2c to bottom tier.).

The Majestic Star 1 has massive changes in progress to the video poker room. The two banks listed in the database are still there. The entire back wall (including the two Ultimate X) have been replaced but not yet turned on. Ditto for the carousel  in the front center.

Will update when I have more info.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: XVP -- rental cars

I have found that a lot of rental car companies are now charging for a spouse to drive. Part of the nickel and dime policies of most rental car outfits. If booking through an outfit like AAA you may have this fee waived. It's worth checking out.

Wow!  I'm shocked that the rental car company even rented to someone (your brother-in-law -- who was the driver) without a credit card in HIS name.  Or was the car rented in your name with him as an "additional" driver?  Just wondering.

Only asking because my husband and I rented a vehicle (through Payless -- whom we despise -- but were the cheapest this time around for a weekly rental) and they (Payless) told us that I (spouse) would have to pay a daily additional "driver" charge because the rental was under my husband's name.  What???!!!  When did that happen?  Usually spouses were "covered" drivers with no additional fees!  Was that a line of crap?  Have all rental car companies changed this policy?

I'm usually standing at the rental pickup counter with my husband and I just happened to "casually" ask that question (about me authorized to drive the vehicle) to the counter agent when we were initialing and declining all extraneous charges that they usually try to foist upon us.

Bob wrote: "Requiring a certain number of specific betting opportunities is only an important consideration if it really matters how well this particular gamble turns out. From a real-world standpoint, I don't think this matters at all."

From a tax standpoint it means everything, because you can't carry forward (or back) gambling losses and expect it to hold up in an audit. If you can only do this once per year, if you win you pay taxes on an $1100 gain, which will likely wipe out your average gain of $50/year if you do it again next year and lose.

It was a boothling who also gave me wrong information about the point
challenge at the Santa Fe Station.

One person wrote:  "Tier score for video poker has been $1=1 point for a while now, so there is no change in the new system.  It's in the explanatory brochure at the slot club, but you have to search for it."  (Was this a change back when they changed the whole system – a couple of years ago???  Or, was it since then – and was it publicized at all????)
Oops – conflicting information – this is giving me a headache again!!!!
