[vpFREE] Re: Joker Wild strategy

Dan,
It is a process of elimination. There can be many hands that can qualify with a Joker.(of course no other paying hands)
Look for: First- #1 any 7, #2 6 0r 8, #3 10,
#4 9 or 5, #6 with out any of the above-Joker alone. With Flush and Straight penalties is can be a bit of mental ************* but you have to stop and think. Not a big deal, it happens maybe once every 2000 hands.

[vpFREE] Re: Any precedent on losing points/comps?

Aonsf, I'm sure you can search the NGC regs as well as I can to find
anything that addresses your questions about account closures. But I
believe it is commonly thought that casinos must give you in cash
whatever your points are worth when they close your account. But I
wouldn't count on getting anything for points that are only good for
comps instead of free play or cash.

Personally whenever my free play point balance at any casino gets over
$100, I redeem $100. That's not because I'm afraid of losing the
points, but because I want to realize the value of those points. The
only exception that I know about is the South Point that maybe once a
year lets us redeem points at double the value but only for comps.
Otherwise, I see no reason to carry a large point balance.

I am one of those who Stations offered a few months ago to redeem old
points (not normally redeemable for cash or free play) at a greatly
reduced rate. This was NOT mandatory. Apparently some players thought
it was.

Your questions about what happens to points and comps when the casino
closes your account has been discussed a few times on the Gambling
with an Edge radio show. If I recall, different casinos may handle
this differently in spite of what we would normally think would be
ethical.

I think when Boyd properties combined, they doubled all my points, but
corrected it within a day or two. Arizona Charlie's recently did
that, too.

Re: [vpFREE] Vegas strip

The Gold coast is better than the Palms for mailed offers to small players, if you're concerned about future offers.

Just wondering why the Coast over the Palms? I was at the Coast 2 months ago and they had no 100 percent plus machines while the Palms has multiple choices for such.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Any precedent on losing points/comps?

I seem to recall this happening to me too at Boyd. I forget exactly what it was, but maybe one of their holiday multiplier days but my points at the kiosk were much higher than they should have been. When I put my card in a machine they showed the correct value the entire time though. A day or two later at the kiosk my points were normal again. I never thought to complain to anyone about it, nor would I.

I guess the situation I'm describing is more complicated. For example, a machine will say something like this:

100 countdown to go
0 points currently earned

Then you play $2.50 worth and it will say

50 countdown to go
2 points currently earned

What if you found a machine that was not set to 50 countdown so initially it says

50 countdown to go
0 points currently earned

And then after you play $2.50 worth, it says

50 countdown to go
5 points currently earned

Would you have an argument with the casino/NGC if you played the latter machine (and the casino later cut your points in half) because it clearly says from the beginning how much it takes to get a point?

That reminds me of when the Tuscany was giving 16x points. It might

have been when they switched from 10x points to 7x points. They took

back 9x of the 16x. It was done electronically. I don't know what

the Gaming Commission would have done if anyone had challenged it.

Re: [vpFREE] Horseshoe Tunica + Memphis

Sun Studios and the Gibson factory are not within walking distance of
each other. I'd guess it's probably about 40 blocks from one to the other.

There is a parking structure (don't remember what it costs) across the
street from the Gibson factory. In addition, there is also the Memphis
Rock 'n' Soul Museum (http://www.memphisrocknsoul.org/) on the ground
floor of that parking structure... worth a visit as long as you're in
the neighborhood.

Parking is not real good around Sun Studios... it's on-street parking
and it can be challenging to get a spot but it's a great place to visit
and breathe in some real rock and roll history.

Another museum related to music is the Stax Museum of American Soul
Music (http://staxmuseum.com/museum/)... well worth the visit also.

It's been about 20 years since I visited Graceland
(http://www.graceland.com/) but I think there's an abundance of paid
parking and I'd guess there's plenty of handicap access. There are tours
of the mansion as well as other interesting museum exhibits across the
street. I'm guessing it's not cheap but that's a once in a lifetime
thing that those of us of a certain age just have to do.

Another thing to do is go hang out on Beale Street any evening. There's
no traffic at all on the street and there are typically thousands of
folks hanging out and having a great time listening to live music and
consuming adult beverages. I went to Memphis about two years ago and
recall that I was a bit disappointed at BB King's club. The food was
good and the live band was good but what disappointed me was that their
set list was typical cover-band selections. In the three sets they
played while we were there, they only played two songs that could be
classified as "blues". I had expected the live performances at that club
to have been dominated by blues music.

I'd say it would be worth while booking a hotel in the Beale Street area
for two nights to give you enough time to take in the things that you'd
enjoy.

Best Regards,

Mike
