Thanks, everyone, for the feedback re: my cruise questions.
To save on travel expenses to/from port (airfare to FL was over $1000
for two!!), we just booked a 7 night Mexican Riviera cruise departing
from Los Angeles (with $29 airfare from LAS to LAX) on Princess
(Sapphire Princess). Booked for $1300, inclusive of all taxes, etc.,
via Expedia, plus got a $75 onboard credit. In addition, I found the
cruise for $1216 on another site, and Expedia is price matching, plus
offering an extra $50 voucher good towards future travel, via their
best price guarantee.
We also had the choice between the Carnival Splendor or the Norwegian
Star for the same date range. All the cruises were within $100 of
each other, price wise, but research and the consensus of the
feedback I received said that Princess had the best food and R&R
experience for the money.
I'm not looking for good VP, as I know that cruises have nothing to
offer in that department. Living in Las Vegas, I get plenty of VP
when I'm NOT in vacation!! LOL. But, hopefully, we will have a
great time. We're certainly looking forward to it!!
In the meantime, if anyone has any tips they'd care to share for
first-time cruisers who will be visiting Cabo and Puerto Vallarta for
the first time, then I'd be happy to hear them!! :-)

ALL Cruise ships have rotten VP payouts. If you get excited by 6/5 JOB,
you'll love playing them.
So if I get bored on a cruise I'll put in $10 in a nickel machine, never
more than that.

[vpFREE] Re: Is video poker at CA Indian casinos fair?
The machines in the Indian casinos I've seen in San Diego County are mostly all IGT. I cannot believe that IGT would cooperate with anybody in creating a dishonest machine. They have too much to lose. However,it is conceivable that someone else might create a "gimmicked" version of the firmware for these machines, say a dishonest guy who knew the firmware architecture of the machine. In a regulated place like Nevada or New Jersey, this kind of chicanery would be quickly caught by state regulators. But since the Indian tribes literally 'regulate themselves," it's possible in theory for widespread cheating to occur.
However, having said that I will say that I believe the machines I have been playing, mostly at Barona and Viejas, are honest. To me they seem the same as the machines I've played in Vegas. And I did get one Royal at Barona in playing around 20,000 - 30,000 hands, which is about what you'd expect.

Re: [vpFREE] XVP: Jean Scott and Bob Dancer BEFORE poker?
I was a high school English teacher. (I still "teach" - just changed the
subject. Once a teacher always a teacher!) Brad was civil service at Naval

[vpFREE] XVP: Jean Scott and Bob Dancer BEFORE poker?
I know both Jean and Bob are members of this forum...
What I've always been curious about...is what did you guys do BEFORE poker?
I know Wizard (Mike Shackleford) was/is an Actuary...but I've never saw where the other God's of gambling said they were...

This will be a case of sour grapes using information by "unnamed" individuals.
The sooner people accept the reality the days of AP VP of yesteryear are never coming back, the sooner people can focus their energies in more positive ways. To take another page out of Buddhism, "all conditioned things are impermanent" -- things change.
Time to move on and change your expectations (or look for a real job).

[vpFREE] 7 stars event at Harrahs AC
Hi Gang:
We have confirmed through multiple sources at Harrahs AC that the 7 Stars Signature Event there will be held the weekend of June 23-26. We were told that Lionel Richey and the a cappella group Straight No Chaser will be the entertainment. There will also be a slot tournament and welcome reception at the indoor pool. No word about point multipliers, free play or airfare reimbursement. It will be the first of three Signature Events in 2011. The others will be in Lake Tahoe and New Orleans.

[vpFREE] Palms Updates
What did the Palms expect?
All machines excluded from all drawings and promotions to be played?
Who was going to play them?
STUPID to exclude them all.
It was a nice room, but no good if anyone was smoking.
Better to have made it a No Smoking high limit lounge, with decent INCLUDED machines. THEN they would have gotten major action!

After the departure a couple of weeks ago of some of the hosts they brought over from the Mirage a year ago, it is clear they are pairing back all over. I really do want the Palms to remain independent and not fall into the CE umbrealla, but with loosing our two hosts our non-CE stays will likely go to the Cosmo where our host went.

I've had similar problems (no surprise), including being told at checkout that my room was "taken care of" only to find it was paid for by using my TR points -- spent quite a while getting that fixed, as I would have rather paid out of pocket than use the points, of which I don't have all that many, and want to save for other things.
But complaining to this group is not the solution -- management needs to hear that the best customers (not me, but the 7*!!!) are not happy with the system, and the complaint needs to include that, even if CP has "good reasons" for everything they are doing, other hotels, including other casino hotels, are able to make reservations much more expeditiously, proving that the "good reasons" are in fact not founded in standard practices in the industry.
And of course, "my business may be welcome elsewhere" is nice to mention, as, remarkably, they often seem to forget this.

[vpFREE] TUNICA trip
Arrived in Tunica yesterday. First time here. Was out in a beautiful newly furnished suite on the 15th floor with a butler. Room is very large nicely furnished and very comfortable, especially the bed. Wish I bad made plans to stay longer.
Have had great luck amd have seen lots of payoffs. Have only been to horseshoe so far but plan on visiting other casinos today.
Thanks to everyone for their help. This was a great choice
[vpFREE] Re: Palms Updates
The closing of the Mint high limit was bound to come, it was dead up there every time we were there (except for a few minutes before a specail drawing).
