"When I was at the Downtown Grand 2 months ago the craps tables were offering players can 'buy' any numbers with no 'vig'. That is a 100% payback game on a craps table where they are paying 3 dealers and a pit person. The table did have a $5 minimum pass line, but if someone else was rolling, the game was basically free for others to play. And yet, I was the only player at the table. I'm at a cross between saying, "Yes, the Downtown Grand definitely does not know how to run a casino." due to the loss that game is for them, or saying, "Geez, what does this place have to do to get patrons in???"

I called just a bit ago. Pit boss says free buy and lay on 4, 10 only. So things must be improving for them. Calling on FPDW VP Mon.

Re: [vpFREE] Mailers from the Plaza and the Downtown Grand......

One of the biggest problem with the Grand is that they are off of the beaten path. Very few people are just going to wander in, most people are going there as a specific destination. The casino needs to attract repeat customers, and their main problem is that they don't know how to keep the customers coming back. The casino floor isn't where they have the problems, it's everywhere else.

A.P.

What I am wondering is, do any of you also only play FP VP? I reached President status and stations last period and have received zero offers. I can only assume this is due to the FPDW play, despite 100k coin in. I was hoping to hear of some experiences from others receiving (or not receiving) any comp offers when playing FP VP. I am really only looking for free rooms here as I am not a local.

Thanks

[vpFREE] Re: Wild Mermaid Video Line Game

The Jungle Riches version of the tile breaker game has hit one area of Montana. I put down 26 plays on my last road trip. I didn't make any money but I learned a lot about the game. There was something about the game I didn't know when I wrote the OP. It's not how many tiles to go, it's where are those tiles located.

The 20 tiles don't have an equal probability to break. Here are the three ways you can break a tile:

1. A random trigger can break a tile. From what I've seen so far this looks like equal probability to me.

2. Catching Diamond Scatters break tiles. This appears to be equal probability.

3. The third way is not equal probability. You have to hit line pays to break tiles. A Three in a Row will break tiles if they are in the winning spin. A Four in a Row will do the same thing....as also a Five in a Row.

It is much easier to hit a Three in a Row, than Four in a row, and much harder to hit a Five in a Row.

This invariable means the tiles in the first three columns are the easiest to break. The fourth column in harder to break and the fifth column even harder yet.

What you will find in this game is that when you get down to the last few tiles they are practically always in the fourth and fifth columns. And when you get down to 1 tile to go it is like 90% of the time it's in the fifth column. So it costs some pretty good money to spin off that last tile. I got stats for the cost of spinning off the last tile:

22 Plays it cost me 344.4 bets to crack the last tile. That's an average of 15.7 bets per play.
The return in the free games was 562.5 bets. That's an average of 25.6 bets.
So an average win of 9.9 bets per play to spin off the last tile.

I haven't tracked it yet but my way of thinking at this point is "if there are 2 tiles to go in the fifth column then the cost would probably be about 24 bets. This would make it an extremely thin edge play.

Don't go by my stats. First of all it's still a small sample space. Second, the Montana version is different from the Nevada version. Here, in the free games, the nudging wilds only come out in the second and fourth columns. In Nevada the nudging wilds come out in the second, third, fourth and fifth columns. So my guess it your stats would look different than mine.

Re: [vpFREE] XVP: The Free State of Jones

Thanks, Victoria. Most everyone thinks that all I do in my off time is get drunk. Nothing could be farther from the truth. I've been heavily involved in genealogy for ten years. I suggest everyone study out their ancestors. You will find them most fascinating. There is just a lot of things you won't know or understand about them until you do the research yourself.

My main tool is Ancestry.com. But there are also the online genforums liike genealogy.com and rootweb.com where researchers exchange information. You will find that you have distant cousins who have been exploring out your ancestors for quite some time. Another technique, if you know the names of a set of your great-grandparents, then google the two names together, both his name and her maiden name. Many of you will be surprised at what you find.

If anyone has any questions I'll be glad to try to give you an answer.

Thanks for the look back in time. You are correct. Nothing is ever as simple as it appears on the surface. Not then and not today.
