We get huge FP coupons from Cherokee for umpteen different days during the month after big play on a Seven Star trip there last summer. Do they think we are going to travel thousands of miles to pick them up? Don't they notice our Las Vegas home address?

Sounds like agon is mailed to as a "local". I figure they use something like 250 mi as their radius.

They send their locals something good for almost every day of the calendar. Between Bev and I, I come away from the mailbox with as many as 6 separate mailers, each with FSP for two days each.

From all reports, visitors fare more meagerly.

As a "local", Cherokee is attractive (but other CZR properties draw greater interest/play from me). I'm loathe to see any discussion of their mailers in this fashion.

It's only been a couple months since considerable heat found it's way to the floor when a local "enterprise" had the audacity to run a roadside billboard offering to redeem offers on days you couldn't come into the casino. That caused more than a tizzy.

(btw, agon ... suggest you not offer up more specifics.)

[vpFREE] Re: Carry Money to LV

If, among the various options others have listed, you decide to carry cash, the only advice I can give is NOT to carry it all in one place -- and I've never put my cash in checked bags, either. That's while "in transit". Certainly, many of the other options listed are safer than carrying cash, but some people like to carry cash rather than go to the inconvenience of getting traveler's checks. Casino credit is great, but I've always been worried that I'd be tempted to over-use it (I don't even register a PIN for ATMs, and I don't carry a checkbook; so what I take with me in cash is all I can lose). If you have AAA, I think they may still offer traveler's checks with no fee they used to long ago). Banks usually charge a fee, another reason not to use traveler's checks.

When I first started carrying more money than I was comfortable with, I did use traveler's checks, and I did lose them once (in my hotel room!) and was able to get my money back -- with some hassle (had to file a police report), but I got it back. After that, I learned to work with cash, although I guess you could easily say I should have learned just the opposite.

Some in my coat in a zippered pocket, some in my carry-on, some in my pants (split into more than one pocket), some carried by my wife, spread it out to at least a few places. Use your imagination.

Once I'm checked in at the casino, I immediately either use the room safe or get a safety deposit box at the front desk, and for the duration of the trip I don't carry more than I think I need for the day. If I lose all that and I need to go back to the box to get more, it's probably time for a break anyway, and maybe time to call it a day. If I have a winning day, or a big winning session, as soon as I can get that money in the box, I do so. Of course, you need to remember to empty the box when you check out :)

Remember, slot machine cash-out slips are pretty much the same as cash, as are casino chips - if you lose them, you've usually lost the money they represent.

Also, if you're concerned about getting mugged (always a possibility if someone is looking for a victim and they see you at the cashier or elsewhere with what they consider to be enough -- and I guess always a possibility anywhere under any circumstances), consider having most of it where it would not ordinarily be found, e.g., shoes, etc. -- and having some that looks like "all your money" to take out of a pocket or wallet and give to the mugger. Someone also once advised me to throw the money on the ground and then back away, so the thief can get the money without feeling threatened, and therefore will not feel compelled to assault you. If you do that, you might even be able to keep your wallet and credit cards, which is a decent "save". I'm assuming you're looking to get away safely as a priority over keeping your money.

Finally, if you score a really big win, you can usually take the payout in a casino check. If you have your account info, you might even be able to get it transferred directly to your account.

If you're going to another country, traveler's checks issued in that country's currency really expedite getting cash there, but there's usually a cost for those, as well as a cost when you convert them back to US money. And if you're gambling in another country, you've got a built-in loss on the currency transactions unless you cash a traveler's check in their currency and just lose all the money :)

Only a fool ever pays an ATM fee. It is doubley foolish to pay an ATM fee to gamble, ie lose money (I know some gamblers are winners but most are losers). I have never paid an ATM fee in my life. Do what I do: carry enough money on me or use your own banks ATM's. You can also use some ATM's at convince stores that don't charge an ATM fee. Make sure however that your own bank doesn't charge you for using their ATM.

correct on two levels. we receive bonus points which do not represent coin
through.

i was referring, of course, to tier credits.

NOTI responded to Agonpd who wrote: "as an example, between 3/5 and 3/15 i have $2400 in free play.

no, i'm not a whale. my current rc's are 215,000 (high for me--i've had a

good two months)."

So, you're getting $4800/month for 100,000 points per month or one
million coin in per month? Is that all video poker play or some slot
play mixed in? By the way, if you have a 7 stars card you are a whale,
maybe not a 7 stars whale, but as far as other casinos are concerned,
you're a whale. You should show that 7 stars card to other casinos and
see what they will match you with. Sometimes the 7 stars card is worth
more at other casinos than it is at Caesars.

Agonpd said RCs (reward credits --- which are the amount of credits earned but not redeemed) and NOTI responded as though he said Tier Credits (which refers to the amount earned since Jan 1. Perhaps Agonpd did mean Tier Credits and just made a typo. I don't know.

even if 215000 is a tier credit score, it does not represent $2,150,000 coin-in, as NOTI inferred. If you earn 5,000 RCs in a day, you end up with 15,000 Tier Credits as you get a bonus of 10,000 Tier Credits. there are smaller bonuses for lesser amounts of play, but the size of the offers indicates that probably Agonpd regularly exceeds 5,000 RCs a day. Also, for the first three months of 2015, your first 50,000 Tier Credits (including bonuses received) are doubled.

Even with the apples and oranges confusion in the post, the last three sentences of NOTI's post contain valuable information and should be considered by anyone not currently doing that.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Carry Money to LV

We have done the same thing for the last 18 years at every casino we've played at. One additional suggestion: when you take a marker or pay a marker do it inside the credit office if possible. That way public eyes can't observe your transaction.

So much more convenient - we just bring our food and entertainment money, and get a marker (usually by day) on our line of credit at our favorite casino. We handle our money similar to you, in that we have a daily allotment, and if we don't use all of that day's money we roll it over to the next. Then we just settle up with the casino before we leave.

And you are supposed to keep your list of used check numbers separate from the checks, etc. The line of credit has been a breeze, and we have never had any problem with it. It keeps us from having to bring large sums of cash with us, and avoids the hassle of the travelers checks.
