Well it isn't really a zip line, more like an amusement swing ride, but you go between the towers of the Rio at really fast speed and might think you are going to crash when you reach the second tower. .... I got a coupon for 2 free tickets from the Privileges coupon book that Vegas locals get from Caesars and took friends this week (you won't find me on the thing!). They enjoyed it, and it was worth what we paid (free), but the normal price of around $30 may be a bit much for a 2 minute thrill ride for some. The ride was quite busy with a steady stream of customers.
Unfortunately onlookers can't get very good photos of the riders, but professional photographers take good pictures to sell you for $20 each ($10 for the second one). Overpriced photos but you just can't resist at least one.
Fortunately the view from the top of the Masquerade Tower of the Rio (the Voodoo Lounge) is excellent, and that is worth about half the price of admission. We went at sunset and got a surprisingly spectacular sunset because some of the tropical storm clouds had reached the Vegas mountains.
Riders and onlookers can also sit around and purchase drinks from the convenient bar. However my friends headed to the Diamond Lounge for free drinks after their ordeal.
I would call the ride terrifying but very short. Of course, notice I didn't ride! My friends enjoyed their thrill and didn't seem traumatized. It was clever of the Rio to put this ride in with the Voodoo Lounge as the takeoff point. It probably didn't cost them much to out in the ride, and sales of tickets, booze, and photos are making this ride quite profitable.
Weight limits for the ride are high, so even heavier people can enjoy the ride (unlike some real zip lines). Two people can ride together, or one person can ride alone.
