[vpFREE] Re: new york video poker

All NY Racinos including Monti are video lottery style machines. Amaze the patron next to you by throwing away that dealt 4 of a kind and watching another 4 of a kind magically reappear on the redeal.

Hey gang,
May be going home (New York)for a visit in August. Does anyone know if the video poker at Monticello Racino is legit or just more slot machine type machines. I heard that the law about Las Vegas company machines in other parts of the country had been rescinded, and that companies could make more than one type of machine now? Can't confirm online. Help

[vpFREE] Defective Meter Rate on Progressives

I don't know how many times this has happened to me, but it's a significant number. I can remember exactly where I was and when.

I sit down at a bank or bar full of linked progressives, by myself, and start to clock the meter rate. It's usually simple, run $20 coin-in through the machine and note how much the jackpot went up.

But once in a while, I'm in like $18, and it has not gone up even ONE penny! And I'm thinking, "What kinda tightass deal is THIS?" Over time, I have learned that if this happens with the first machine I try, I move to the next machine and try it all over again. Almost without fail the second machine rises normally. So essentially, I probably picked the ONLY machine in the bank that was defective to start my tracking. And this has happened to me a lot.

Do you suppose this is by accident? Or should I be paranoid and start thinking that some casinos do this frequently on purpose, leaving one (or more) machines in a bank that will never add to the meter rise. I don't know why they would do that.

Like I said, I can't tell you how many times this has happened to me, which just seems odd and unlikely.

I would think they are a bit torn about anything attracting the Chinatown traffic. The minimums are a bit high for most bus people, too.

Rob,

I try to keep an open mind to your posts but this one just doesn't make sense to me. So, I go to Revel, play a bunch and win $10,000. Why would I be tempted to play more? Now, losing $10,000 has no benefit to me. Their promo is getting you in the door to take another look at their casino. If I could this promo every month of the year, I'd quit my day job tomorrow. Maybe today.

I don't see how this is a casino friendly promo. If you decide to play, set a loss number and a win number. If I win $10K, I stop. If I lose $20K I stop. Simply as that.

The only issue I have with the promo is that it is spread out over so many weeks. If I lived in AC, this is a must do promo. Even if the best game is 6/5 JOB, I would play. Not because it is a casino friendly promo but because I can greatly limit my downside risk with no corresponding limit on upside gain. What else do you want from a casino promo?

[vpFREE] Re: Revel's Loss Rebate

This promotion has more to do with the Revel staying relevant. AC may have too many casinos right now and if the sales go through to Penn, Pokerstars and other rumored parties, Revel stands to be unprofitable and alone with no feeder casino and no sugar daddy to keep them going as a loss leader. Unless they can quickly steal and keep some whales, assorted asian games players and the locals, they are done.
Advantage players have been thinking about this and even from the kiddie table where I am, I hear some interesting ideas floating around.
There is lots going on here at different levels don't look at it only as VP.
