[vpFREE] Wild Mermaid Video Line Game

Wild Mermaid is a video line game by Spielo. I don't think Spielo is in the Nevada market but one of the youtube videos of the game was recorded at Soboba in California. There are two versions of the game. In the first version you are awarded 8 free games when you catch three scatters. This game is not exploitable. In the 2nd version you get the free games when you collect 20 tiles in the column to the right. This is a banking game and should be exploitable.

In the youtube video you will see that the player started with $100 in credits. He is max betting $2.50. It took him 61 games to collect the 20 tiles. He started with 5 free games and was awarded another 7 free games during his bonus round for a total of 12 free games. He collected $21.25 in the free games.

You have to check five bet levels, 50 cents, $1, $1.50, $2, $2.50 to see how many tiles were left in the column by the prior player. I think I would start by spinning off any play where there are 5 or less tiles to go. And I would collect stats on the game. On each play I would record:

1. How many tiles I have to collect.
2. How many spins I had to make to get the free games.
3. How much I got dropped for to get the free games.
4. How many free games I was awarded
5. How much money I was awarded in the free games.

A collection of stats like this is going to tell me the average cost to bank one tile, the average number of free games, and the average value of a free game. Then I can adjust my playable number accordingly.

In other videos of the game on youtube I seen as many as 39 free games awarded.

Re: [vpFREE] South Point Warning

The obvious competitor would be Boyd's casinos. They have about the same games, maybe Boyd's are slightly better, and Boyd's have better promotions and multipliers, and there are more Boyd's casinos to play at and they are in better locations. Dotty's would also be a major competitor in the $5-$250 per hand range and even more convenient to find.

I disagree. You're saying Boyd's, but I'm assuming you mean Coast --- which is the Gold Coast, Orleans, Sam's Town, Suncoast segment of Boyd casinos.

Gold Coast has the inventory closest to South Point, I suppose, but they top off their good games at $1 single line rather than $2 and limit most of their promotions to $10,000 coin-in per day. Orleans, Suncoast, and Sam's Town are considerably tighter overall. Note: my information is a year old. I found Gold Coast barely playable when I was getting a mailer --- and unplayable without. For some reason, the thickness of the cigarette-smoke-fog bothers me much more when I'm not getting a mailer.

Dotty's isn't even in the discussion for out-of-towners at all, as you MUST pick up free play every two weeks at least --- and only then if you can do it on a Saturday or Sunday. (They use a calendar week there, where cash back is awarded weekly from Sunday to Saturday. They have a "one day early to one-day late" philosophy, so if you go in Saturday or Sunday you can pick up money for two different "weeks." Going in any other day of the week only gets you one week's worth of cash back.) For locals who play for dollars or more, Dotty's has some advantages (I certainly play there and have for years), but these are mostly 15-machine shops that are specifically geared to be attractive to women who smoke. Unless you're a competent video poker player who plays at least $5 a hand and who has the discipline to only play the best games, the games at Dotty's are MUCH tighter than other locals' casinos in Vegas. They are comparable to what you get at 15-machine pubs around Vegas --- and those video poker games are typically in the 95%-96% range.

The biggest advantages at Dotty's are for those who generate a lot of W2Gs. If you're not a professional gambler, generating extra W2Gs has very real tax implications. There's a relatively small percentage of players who play for at least $5 a hand and who can deal with lots of W2Gs. Although Station Casinos has been trying to shut down Dotty's for a couple of years now --- I doubt if Michael Gaughan considers Dotty's competition at all. I certainly wouldn't if I were him.

And if they get mad at you for winning you just stop getting mailers, but get to keep your player's card and benefits. I wonder if Michael Gaughan would still prefer to 86 advantage players if it hadn't been for the court decision at Jerry's Nugget. His father always did.

[vpFREE] Re: South Point Warning

My mailed offers from SP went way down after one winning trip where I had the good fortune to hit 4 royals on 50 cent 10 play 9/6 Jacks with a total coin in of about 150k. This was on a three day trip about 6 months ago with no double point days. I was way over expectation on that trip but it was the first time I had those kind of results. I am simply a recreational player and normally I will incur an approximate expected loss but I like the place, as does my wife, so SP has been my normal casino for my once or twice a year trips. I haven't been able to go back to Vegas and will check with my hostess before I go back to see what she will offer but as others have said, "there are too many other places to play" if I can't get a decent arrangement worked out on the front end. I am guessing that some bean counter saw the 4 W2sand thought I must be good<g>. We'll; see.
