The Wizard says 88.61% which includes a 3.49% meter. And IGT is known to add pot sweeteners on a regular basis, from other progressives it is taking down. And if you hit one of these there's no casino heat since IGT pays the bill and I've never heard of IGT 86ing anyone, even winners.

"The paytables are ones like 8/5 DB (94.19%) and 6/5 DDB

(94.66%)."

Not that they are anywhere close to being interesting to me, I'm very surprised at how LOOSE these games are.

Wide Area Progressives, like MegaBucks, typically start out at about 85% and go from there.

The 10x multiplier is pretty rare on a regular STP game (I don't have the number off-hand). There is no reason to assume it has the same frequency on the WAP.

I believe the rule is that the top jackpot must have a payout more frequent than 1-in-50 million. Assuming these games have a royal cycle of 32,000 (when there is a multiplier of 10 and you're using a royal-or-bust strategy), this implies that the 10x multiplier must be more frequent than 1-in-1500 hands. I'm curious whether IGT will publish this information.

Maybe the article didn't tell you anything, but the Wizard of Odds website is a gold mine of information for gamblers. I've consulted it hundreds of times ---mostly about video poker. Although I'm more knowledgeable about video poker than most players, the WoO site has a lot of information that I wouldn't know were it not for the website. Valuable information that has been turned into dollars and cents for me.

There was a promotion in Philadelphia where the best game to play was a bad version of Five Aces --- with higher returns for certain quads. And I needed to figure it out relatively quickly. The site gave me an accurate strategy very quickly --- and the promotion was very lucrative. It's the only site where you can put in your own pay table for Quick Quads and get accurate strategies. Although I published decent (not perfect) strategies for many QQ pay schedules several years ago, there are more pay schedules now. Where else do you go to figure this stuff out? There are many obscure games which Mike has written up. Some don't require a strategy change, but it's useful to know how much the game is worth.

If you came across a keno promotion where 5-out-of-5 paid a bonus of $xxxx, where would you go to figure out if this was a good deal or not? I'd go to the WoO site. Maybe you always play the same game and already know the strategy ---and you know that game is going to last forever. Fine. The site may not have much information for such a person. But most of us, at least some of the time, come across special situations some of the time and would like to figure them out. For those of us that are that way, the WoO site is valuable. I've found that games keep disappearing and I'm always on the lookout for new opportunities. I like tools that can help me do this.

My radio co-host, Richard Munchkin, tells me that table game players consult it frequently as well --- for similar reasons.

Re: [vpFREE] XVP: Interview with Michael Shackleford

Interesting article (historically) but not very useful. I once had a geometry teacher that claimed Pythagorus was just in the right place at the right time and that his theory (a**2 + b**2 = c**2) was so easy to prove that if he had been around in Pythagorus time the theorem would have been named for him. He may have been right.
