I drove down there tonight to check it out. I figured if it was actually a good deal, posting it on vpFREE would kill it so I'd better get there quickly. The limit is 1000 points ($1000 coin-in) which earns you $50 cash back. The best game I saw at Buffalo Bills was 8/5 Bonus, but it was only available for $5 and $10. That makes your expected loss on $1000 coin in $8.34. If you want to play a quarter or dollar game, your expected loss will be closer to $20 to earn the $50 bonus. In my opinion its not worth driving down from Vegas to collect --- but if you're driving to or from California along I15 between now and the end of June, it makes sense to stop in and pick up the free money. Otherwise, let it go. Bob

[vpFREE] Is this promotion for real for new sign ups? 20x points for new sign ups

At Buffalo Bill's and Primm's casino in Primm, NV (about a 45 min drive from Vegas).

http://www.primmvalleyresorts.com/special-offers#casino_offers

I noticed the 20x points for new members within the first 24 hours of play. Free Play normally =0.25% cashback but with the offer the free play comes out to be 5% cash back. I'm just wondering if there is any maximum point limit. I called the players card front desk a few times and they don't know of any limitations or restrictions. Just that the points would be added a day after playing on your new card. Anyone have idea on the promotion? Been to Primm? It may be worth it to burn a free ticket on Southwest and play a day at the casino if it's worth it. I live in the midwest so I'm debating whether it's worth my time. Any thoughts?

RE: [vpFREE] Q. about VP at Hollywood Casino, Charles Town WV

To my knowledge the video poker at Charles Town is a random deal however as someone else posted the paytables are bad -- things like 8/5 JOB or 6/5 Bonus Poker. I doubt you will find much with a payout greater than 98%. There is no cashback and offers tend to be very minimal.

As to your second question, the best method is to review the applicable gaming regulations. Charles Town is not an Indian casino so all the regulations are online and when you have the take you can review them by doing a little research. If necessary, you can always call the West Virginia Lottery Commission that regulates the casino.

If you are at a non-Indian casino and if it is not a random deal you can generally dig down through the Help menu on the machine where many times it will say that the cards displayed are for display purposes only or something to that effect. Also, if not random you may experience the "genie" who magically changes hands or the match card feature.

Thanks for the reply. My wife and I are big fans, and really have enjoyed the software. We'll look forward to the latest and greatest version.

I wish. I've been trying to get the backers of VPW to support a new version --- with both Quick Quads and Ultimate X, among others. So far I've been unsuccessful. I'll keep trying.

No, I've never made it to the East Coast. My guess is I probably never will as I'm not so crazy about the long distance travel anymore. I made some forays into the midwest from the early nineties to the early 2000's.

The first was about 1994 when I was playing the low-limit stud hi-lo games. I first hit Mesquaki at Tama, Iowa. The game there was so-so, but an Omaha player told me about a very loose Stud 8 game at Soaring Eagle.

I got there and sure enough it was a very loose $3-$6 game. But the dealing was abysmal-maybe 18 hands an hour. I had gotten spoiled at the Phoenix House in Cripple Creek, Colorado where their dealers were requried to average 28 hands per hour and the best could do 35. But I got into a hand one day in that $3-$6 Soaring Eagle game where I snagged a $500+ pot. I've never seen it before or since. I think I'm gonna try to reconstruct the hand and put it in a Delia and Johnny story. All the stars had lined up right. Everyone was deep stacked enough, two players were rolled with trips on third street and jammed the pot on every street, but all eight players went to the River. I snagged the pot with a flush and a wheel. I think I'm gonna call the story The Community Card.

But I eventually got tired of the slow dealing and headed back to the Mountain States. I made a couple more forays to the Midwes which I'll put in a later post.

I've played about 30 hours there and have never noticed anything suspicious. Their VP machine manufacturers are IGT and Ballys.

[vpFREE] Re: Q. about VP at Hollywood Casino, Charles Town WV

I can't answer to the randomness. I thought they all dealt randomly from a 52-card deck.

I haven't been there in a year or so, but I can tell you that the pay schedules absolutely suck. And that's putting it as mildly and politely as I know how.

A better bet for killing time between races might be to go inside where you can watch the races from other tracks on the TVs or just play penny slots - one penny at a time.

Going to Charles Town WV next month just for fun weekend at the horse races. Will definitely have some time when horses are not running. What is the best way to tell if the video poker machines at Charles Town are random or set up for certain payback just like the slots?

I am sure this has been discussed here before, but I don't know how to tell the difference.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have to vote for the Borgata in AC which has great food and ambiance along with a truckload of 9-6 JOB from quarter on up. Unlike The Strip which I don't think has a single quarter 9-6 game on its whole length.
