Re: [vpFREE] Re: New Changes in the Stations slot club

No change at Stations. They continue to deny multipliers to players they believe have an IQ exceeding their shoe size. Today is supposed to be 10X slots and 6X video poker for everyone but kiosk only showed a 3X multiplier for me.

The multiplier was available to me on the kiosk. It will be interesting to see what multiplier(s) are available to me on Sunday when they are advertising 6X points on video poker.

[vpFREE] Re: Power Quads poker?

"Easier than regular royal"?  As I remember Frontier promo ," Frontier Royal", I got a good many jackets over the promo.    The hardest card to fill was the 10s.  We may have had a few promo cards filled, except for the 10.  It "seems' hard to get the 5 royal cards in 4kds,  but we got them many many more times than royals.  1/2 royal to get there on Power Quads sounds right.  One addition, I think Power Quads would be volatile.  Not long ago I played on a DDB game that had a progressive on As, no kicker needed.  I played 1/2 day and was lucky enough to hit the As for $3200.00.   Funny thing, As & kicker meter was in low 2s.   Also ...  my wife  hit 4 low with kicker  for $1950.00.   Nice hit for me. Who knows when that last 4kd will show? But, as we all learn over and over, variance can wreck your bankroll. I came out good on this play. Many other times the house cleaned my clock.   Wouldn't be any fun if it didn't hurt when you lose.

Cheers..... Jeep

[vpFREE] Newbie questions about Stations properties

Hi all, I've been playing at some of the Stations properties and have some questions.  I live close to a few and I like some of the promos going on now (free gifts on some days, scratch tickets with some points, etc.)  My goal is to get mailers/calendars/coupons/whatever and reach a higher tier status.  I feel that President will be pretty easy, but Chairman will be very hard without some help.

First off, my girlfriend likes to go and play sometime too.  One reason she should play on her own card is to get offers as well, but is it possible to have two copies of my card and thus she's earning status points for me as well?  My only concern with doing this is that we may get no-mailed (if I'm using that term right).  We both play NSUD deuces wild.

In general I wouldn't mind stopping in at non-Stations casinos if there is a good promo going on like free gifts or something, but my two primary goals are to reach the highest status possible at Stations and get offers from as many casinos as possible.  I was told that there are 3 separate groups of mailings from Stations properties: the Stations, the Wildfires, and the Fiesta properties, so spreading play around these might be worth it.  Additionally if I can start getting good offers at other places by playing $100 a week or something, I'd gladly do that.

One last question, will we be hurt in terms of mailings if we use coupons from things like Sunday magazine or the ACG?

Thanks in advance!

[vpFREE] Re: Power Quads poker?

Thanks Harry.  The Wizard has the following on his site.
http://wizardofodds.com/ask-the-wizard/video-poker/probability/

To get back to the problem at hand, it will obviously only take one four of a kind to cross the first one off the list. The probability the next four of a kind will be one that you need is 12/13. So, on average, it will take 13/12=1.0833 trials to get it. Once you have two crossed off the list, the probability the next one will be one that you need is 11/13, so that will take 13/11=1.1818 more trials to get the third one.

Following this pattern the total expected number of four of a kinds to get at least one of each kind is

1 + (13/12) + (13/11) + (13/10) + ... + (13/1) = 41.34173882.

Not looking to step on anyone else's toes, the 17,499 is a straightforward calculation:

The value assumes play of standard 9/6 Jacks strategy, without strategy modification to accelerate quad hits.

Mean time to the first quad hit is 423.3 hands.  After hitting your first quad, there are 12 remaining quads to hit, out of 13 possibilities; mean time to hitting the next target quad is (13/12)*423.3 = 458.6 hands.

Calculation of the subsequent "mean time to hit" proceeds similarly, with values of (13/11)*423.3, (13/10)*423.3, etc.  Adding the results for all 13 quads yields the suggested cycle of 17,499.

My guess is that with an ER-optimized strategy, the cycle would drop into the range of 15000-15500 hands.

Actually it's easier than a regular royal.  If all quads were equally likely (they aren't but it's close), then collecting all 13 quads should take about 1 in 17,499 hands.  Since succeeding pays the equivalent of half a royal, this adds over 2% to the base game.  So games like 8/5 JoB can be considered "playable".  The only risk is if the casino yanks the game while you're almost done collecting the quads, you are likely "out of luck" then.
