I can't speak about NJ. You may well be correct.

When I was writing the article I was thinking about the kiosk drawings run by the Coast Casinos (part of B Connected) in Las Vegas.  There players regularly get about the same amount (perhaps $3, perhaps $5, perhaps $25, etc., depending on their play level) and once they've selected it always shows $250 or $500 prizes were available. I've seen these kiosk games at both Sam's Town and Gold Coast. I haven't experienced them elsewhere.

Just another thought ...

Aruba sits fairly south in the Caribbean.  Checking NCL itineraries, it looks like the Aruba options out of Miami are 11-14 days in length.

FWIW, I believe we have friends who managed to use two 7* annual cruise benefits to obtain a cabin on such a cruise.

Certainly recommend pursuing kelso's advice.


I'll note that my experience of a few years ago with NCL is that they were inflexible in offering any substitutions to those sailings provided for under a given offer, nor were they interested in offering a substitution in conjunction with a supplemental cash payment.


If you have any significant recorded play while sailing NCL on a past cruise, NCL may be prepared to offer you an Aruba itinerary independent of any offer in hand through their Casinos at Sea office.

To piggyback on this question, I'd love recommendations for a first-time cruise that will pay off in terms of future comps. What's the difference in ships/lines/clubs? Any guidelines on coin-in to secure comps? Any "pro tips" in terms of how to book?

Also - I may go on my own, so any tips on costs for a single cruiser would be appreciated.

If you have previously sailed on NCL AND played in the onboard casino, you MIGHT be eligible for a "free" cruise directly from NCL. You can find out by calling the Casinos At Sea number that you can get from the NCL website. Worst case scenario, assuming the two conditions above are true, is that you wouldn't qualify and you've wasted 10 minutes. Best case, you'll qualify for at least an inside room, and if you want something better, you'll just have to pay for an upgrade.

It is worth a shot - if you've sailed and played, probably better than the1 in 47 of drawing the fifth card to a 4 card RF.
