[vpFREE] Re: What is most memorable hit, not counting first royal?

Mine wasn't on VP, but was the most memorable gambling night of my life.

I'd been playing a low volatility (read: BORING) VP machine at the Taj for 3 hours. I was actually getting tired and ready to call it a night, and had the same $100 in the machine that I'd started with. Nearby, there was a section of $5 slots, and I'd noticed that one of them had hit a lot of jackpots. No one played it long, just "hit and run".

So I decided to end my night by cashing out the ticket and taking a quick shot at the high limit slots...something I rarely do. I absent mindedly stuck in the ticket while adjusting the chair, juggling my drink and purse.....then looked at the machine to see only 4 credits. OMG....this was a $25 machine! WAY above my limit!

Annoyed with myself, and too irritated to move again, I decided I'd probably lose this either way, so WTH, I slapped the button, betting 2 credits. JACKPOT for $36K! By far the biggest I've ever hit. I was beside myself and in total shock. It took nearly a half hour to get the check, and the slot attendant said, "remember you still have two credits". I laughed and said "sure....like that could happen again". We were still chatting, and I hadn't even looked back at the machine when I smacked the button the second time....and JACKPOT for $14K. Unbelievable, that I had just won $50K by totally screwing up!

Of course, the adrenaline was pumping, so no bedtime now. Went back to the $5 VP, and played for hours, hitting a royal on the single line game. While waiting to get paid, I moved to the triple play machine next to it, and was dealt 4 Aces for $12K. After another day of play, I ended that weekend trip up $73K....by far the most winning trip I've ever had.

I still refer to it as "the fantasy night"....one I hope everyone has at least once during their gambling life!

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Most memorable hand:

My most memorable wasn't a huge win. But it's the one I remember most anyway.

I'm normally a 3-5 line quarter player, and occasionally play quarter Spin Poker. But I never play dollars on anything.

Couple years ago the wife commented that our gambling felt like "work" a bit too often. Normally I get up around 315am and grind away for three or four hours while she sleeps (and the casino is its quietest with the best air quality it has all day). I try to get 80% of our coinin done that way so that the rest of the play can be low pressure and casual and it stays fun for her (she's usually playing nickels while I play quarters). We aren't doing this for income (even though we've been up four years in a row). We look at it as the cheapest resort vacations we could ever find.

Well her comment about the fun hit home. When you view sessions as work it's hard to get all that excited about a royal here or there. So we decided that every trip we would "blow" $100 on actual gambling. Money we fully intended to lose, separate from the ever-churning bankroll. Some trips it's on silly slots with bonus games, some it's on roulette, sometimes craps. We win occasionally off the "fun" money and if we do, that money goes to pleasure purchases, never to the bankroll and never to the regular bank accounts. It's fun money, period.

On a trip last year, it was my turn to decide what to do with the fun money. And I walked into the high limit at Atlantis and sat at a Spin Poker Deluxe machine. Twenty lines. Dollars. NSUD. $100 a spin. More than 20 times as big as my 5 play bets and 8 times as big as my "big stakes" play at quarter Spin Poker. I did the silly "what if I get a dealt Royal" math in my head... stared at the machine... pondered what kind of bankroll I'd have to have for playing this machine to not be a terrible idea... then hit the button.

Three deuces and a dealt straight flush.

I stared at that screen for probably five minutes. Yes the math is really obvious. But this wasn't a machine I'd ever play again. Or even beyond this hand. And a thousand bucks is a thousand bucks, especially when it's sacredly earmarked not to go back into the bankroll or the general fund. It's like being ten years old and grandma giving you money you're not allowed to save.

Ultimately I decided I had to go for the deuces. Worst case I was risking about $500. Couldn't see getting less than that terribly often off the twenty lines (and $400 as a guaranteed minimum). Depending on which of the six spots a deuce fell in, I'd get either $6k or $7k if it hit.

From the lede, you know it didn't hit. I did get a couple 5OAK so I wound up with $710 off the hand. It turned into a nice pair of earrings for the wife, and a bespoke suit for me in Bangkok. Completely guilt-free.

But in my mind I can still see the spinning "wheels" on that screen waiting for the 4th deuce to come...

My most memorable hand was a blunder. I was planning to play 15 hands of $1 9/6 JOB on a 100-play machine. (This was my first stop of a 5-day trip after arriving in Las Vegas a couple hours earlier.)

I loaded $500 into the machine and then carefully selected the 15 games and set the number of coins to 5 But old habits die hard, and I hit the "Max Bet" button. I was shocked when the entire screen lit up with hands. I was even more shocked when I saw that I'd been dealt quad jacks. A $12,000 win on my first hand of the trip, thanks to a stupid mistake.

[vpFREE] Most memorable hand:

Most memorable hand:
My most memorable
Hand was at the stardust JOB dollar progressive.
First time there without my wife we had been
Several times and despite hitting a quarter
Royal at the divert on(I didn't know any
Better) all the trips were bad.300 dollars
Was a big loss to me at the time and just
Before leaving I had lost that. Then I hit
The 5300 Royal.I sat there staring at it
For half hour.Thinking I don't believe
It and I am going home a winner no way could
I lose all of this.
The change lady had to tell the slot manager
Who was wondering what the hell I was doing
"It's his first royal".

[vpFREE] WMS

I read a few years back of VP machines in a California facility that were not quite Nevada quality. I've now discoverd some favorable VP in an Arizona Indian casino with WMS VP machines. Should I be concerned?

Re: [vpFREE] Re: What is most memorable hit, not counting first royal?

Playing DoubleDown Stud at the Taj, when the game was first introduced. I was dealt A-Q-J-K of Spades, and up popped the 10 after I doubled down my bet. The music starts playing, and the slot attendants come running - er, well, walking over. When they see what I'd hit they get on their radios and next thing I know, there are about 4 or 5 suits surrounding me as well. Turns out they'd never seen the DDS machine hit for a Royal before, and everyone wanted a look.

Took a while for them to bring me a check for the entire 20K, and I even got comped to a dinner in the Chinese restaurant. What made it especially memorable was that on the long drive down from Long Island, I'd mentioned to the bride that we should really start thinking about getting a new car, and we were thinking about how we'd budget for that while paying for the second kid's college tuition.

Thank you Taj, and the VP gods!

My most memorable hit? It was online, in my bedroom. I played a $100 for $100 match bonus, and was down to my last $23. I had been playing 4-lined JoB for 25-cents, so it was do or die time. I jacked up the denom to $1, essentially my last hand. BAM! Pat royal, times 4. Woohoo! Took a moment to register in my brain. I'm thinking, oh great, $4000, because I had been playing for quarters. I look at the balance, oh wait a minute, it says $16000. Holy crapsicle! I start yelling, and my big dog comes running in to see what my problem is. And I'm afraid she is going to knock the wires out of the computer and I haven't even set the hand. Anyway, all turned out ok, and I got paid. lol This was over ten years ago, in online gambling's prime, before they passed the so-called "port security act" and ruined everything. After that, I had to get dressed every day and go outside.

about 6:30 am, getting an early start before local teams showed. This is so far back the machines

machine and coining up next door machine for my wife, who was taking her time getting ready.
She really didn't want to play that early. I played for about 1 hour. The "pros" were just coming
in and setting $200 cans of quarters on machines and playing briskly. Just as my wife rounded
corner the royal popped up for me. $6043.00. That hit me just right. Once the jackpot hit,
all 11 machines started spitting quarters in hole in flat top. Players finding buckets to take .25
to cashier. All those regular locals, as should be, don't spend one cent more if not advantage play.

Since I wasn't part of gang some players actually expressed anger when they missed hit.
Physically slamming around showing anger. So distasteful, pros who can't take the heat.

That was memorable ...... Jeep
