It's interesting that humans persist in their belief that they can beat the Kelly system, even humans with mathematical or financial training. It's ironic really, mathematicians discover "Fortune's Formula" (to borrow Poundstone's book title) and yet humans continue to act as if it doesn't exist or somehow doesn't apply in their corner of the universe. In video poker it's common to hear the claim that Kelly doesn't apply because there are limited bet sizes or perhaps only one useful betsize. Nonsense. And yet the belief persists, humans want to believe they can beat Kelly, in ignorance of the math.
[In cases where there is only one allowed bet size, Kelly becomes a go, no-go, green light, red light, system. As an approximation, take the bet if your current bankroll is variance/edge bet-sizes or more, otherwise decline the bet.]

The AC Diamond and 7 Stars lounges are pretty sweet. Hardly a reason to eat elsewhere. CET lounges vary widely across the country, from really swank to basically dive bars with chips damp with stale beer.

I must have gotten some from the same batch earlier this year. Two of the five I picked up at HSI were also used up in Colorado. Apparently a large batch of numbers were stolen, and the company was aware of the issue. The added annoyance was that the casino knew about it long before I did, and made no effort to communicate or compensate anyone. My host did get mine replaced, but I had to make another visit to pick them up. At least that was not a long trip.

"Darryl McEwen did a story about a low stakes player that basically was 7* to eat and drink all day for free and never tipped."

Well compared to poker players, VP players have it good. What is also not mentioned is does this guy eat or drink in the off hours. If he is paying to eat at the property or goes to a club after the tournament that gets thrown into the mix too. I doubt he is eating home brought cheese sandwiches and the 50000 TC he would have earned to make 7* does not last forever. So there might be another factor in the equation.

Yes, there is a gamble to it. If you discount out the royal then the theoretical loss would be $12,000. i just picked up on something in one of Dan Druff's (the person working this play) posts. He says he lost money doing it in 2013 and won money in 2015. That means he's only running the action every two years.
He once said that he doesn't know how much longer it will last but feels like CET knows about players like him and puts up with it because they make so much money off 7 Stars players anyway.
Another thing is the $50,000 wager in five hours. He couldn't do this on $1 single line. He's either playing $5 single line or $1 Triple Play or Five Play.
A person by the name of lucky jumped into the thread and says he qualified for 7 Stars, quit playing, but has been spending 4 days a week at a CET property in Atlantic City for several months now and taking his meals in the Diamond Lounge. LOL!
