In no way did I take credit for being in the military. When Bonnie brought it up (she was thinking of her ex-husband when she said it), I did my best to change the subject immediately.

When I first became of military age back in the mid to late 60s (I was born in 1947), being in the military wasn't very popular in many quarters --- primarily due to the unpopularity of the Viet Nam War. I wasn't crazy about joining, but I tried to do so. Back then you never saw standing ovations in airports when soldiers in camo outfits walked through. Today that's pretty commonplace.

Today a very high number of Americans respect our military --- including me. Certain levels of pretending are okay with me --- and others may disagree with what's the right balance. Pretending to be ex-military when you weren't simply isn't okay with me and I would never do it.

You should assume that messages can be read. I have heard of court cases where they subpoenaed surveillance footage where they zoomed in on someone's phone and could read the message. I have also talked with surveillance operators who say this is doable. A casino with older equipment might have a tougher time doing this, but as a general rule, if it's something you wouldn't want read my surveillance, it shouldn't be looked at on the casino floor.

Subject: Need to Know Now: IRS Update | August 1, 2015

The AGA continues its recurring communications with you to provide updates on the impact that an IRS notice with proposed regulations could have on our consumers and our business, as well as access to tools and information that will empower you to actively participate in these ongoing discussions. Please find update below.

As always, if you'd prefer not to receive this email, simply contact us to opt-out.
------------------------------------------------

The AGA has remained active behind the scenes since providing testimony at the IRS' June 17 public hearing on the proposed mandatory regulations impacting tax reporting information for casino slot machine play (and keno/bingo).

As a result of our ongoing productive dialogue with the IRS and Treasury, AGA was asked to provide additional information on several technical questions to help these officials better analyze the points our industry has made to date.

Therefore, in collaboration with AGA's member-led task force of industry experts, yesterday AGA submitted a supplemental letter to IRS to further bolster AGA's written comments and hearing testimony provided in June.

At this point, we understand that in the coming month, Treasury officials may reconvene internally to discuss the pending mandatory regulations and its potential next steps. AGA's supplemental information is timely and we hope it will provide IRS with greater clarity on our concerns, while continuing to foster our industry's collaborative working spirit to forge a more reasonable solution for the gaming industry, the taxpayer and IRS.

Thank you for your continued engagement, expertise and support of this important effort.

Ex-military is a bit extra touchy. 30 years ago I had enlisted, never left the country and rarely talk about it. There are people that when they find out treat me much better even when I make it clear that my sole contribution was inventing new ways to discreetly scratch myself in the heat.

I feel there is a bit of a difference with playing the rube at a casino where it is sort of expected and other portrayals.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: POW'R HIT PLUS

I guess that is another plus. I don't drink while playing VP, but for Keno I assume you stay until you hit a 5/8 or better or something like that. So bottoms up! Doesn't reading while playing look suspicious, a degenerate bibliophile? Switch to audio books?

Just got happily married and joined fatherhood and I am not that much younger than you otherwise I might try and buy a franchise off you. I could really catch up on Roku/Hulu and the like.

cdgnpc, there are actually plenty of security cameras in these places. They are the favorite Stop & Robs of the local thieves. They have to have bankroll to pay jackpots and the thieves know it. Many of them have signs saying no hoodies and you have to ring a buzzer to get in at night

vpFREE Posting Guidelines - 1 AUG 2015

http://www.west-point.org/users/usma1955/20228/V/POL_P.htm

1. Everyone should read and be familiar with the vpFREE
FAQ before posting messages on vpFREE Forums.

2. Every message's subject line should accurately identify
the content of the message, to facilitate faster navigation
by interested or uninterested members.

3. If you reply to a message and change the subject matter,
either start a new thread (preferable) with a new subject
line or rename the subject line to reflect its new focus.

4. When replying to messages, quote just enough of the
previous post to maintain continuity. Delete the rest of
the previous post.

5. When replying to messages, clearly differentiate the
previous message(s) from your comments, so that it will be
easy to identify who wrote what.

6. Never post lengthy copyrighted material verbatim without
permission. This includes posts from non-vpFREE internet
forums. Instead, post a link to the material and/or a
summary. Short, credited excerpts may be quoted.

7. Don't use any vpFREE member's real name, even their
first name, on any vpFREE forum unless they themselves use
their real name there.

8. As a spam prevention measure, no one can upload to the
Files Directory on the vpFREE home page unless they get
temporary upload access from the Administrator.

9. Casino personnel probably monitor vpFREE Groups so posts
containing sensitive information should take this into
consideration.

10. Members are expected to observe the rules of
Netiquette , and to practice politeness and show good taste
in their vpFREE posts.

11. Any post that disagrees with vpFREE Dogma and
reaches contradictory conclusions, should be supported with
significant, persuasive documentation. Generalizations and
limited anecdotal evidence aren't persuasive.

12. Most vpFREE members rely on the forum for accurate
information, and may misunderstand, misinterpret or be
confused by tongue-in-cheek posts which are presented as
fact. Always make it very clear in your posts if they are
tongue-in-cheek, by using "smilies", stating that you're
kidding or something similar.

13. Use FREEvpFREE for any political, religious, or smoking
vs. non-smoking discussions. Non-partisan status reports
about smoking and non-smoking availability in casinos are OK
on vpFREE.

14. Promotional Posts - The preferred method for marketing
products and services on vpFREE is an un-obtrusive link

6 month period.

nothing surprising about this....I remember a previous column in which he bragged about stealing a hotel breakfast. Stirred a lot of discussion which clearly had no impact.
