[vpFREE] Re: Lao Sze Chuan at the Palms

Speaking of the Palms, there's a sign I saw today at the car wash stating that it will close August 28.

I live to eat.  Gold Coast gives me free buffets that I pass.  Palms buffet also not to my taste buds.

[vpFREE] Lao Sze Chuan at the Palms

Here's a good article on the new Chinese restaurant. Szechuan is normally spelled without a space by the way, thus producing why I found the new name so funny. Lao Szechuan as a name would have made sense.

http://www.vegasnews.com/118241/palms-casino-resort-brings-famed-chef-tony-hus-lao-sze-chuan-to-las-vegas-opening-in-august.html

By the way, Henry, no one has eaten there because it hasn't opened yet. No one was complaining about the food. I was only saying the name they've chosen was funny!

As for the old Palms restaurant, Fortunes, it has pretty good food. The problem was that Asian diners found its location at the back of the 24-7 Cafe bad. They felt like they were being segregated and sent to the back of the room. The Palms wants to get more Asian players, so wants to come up with a restaurant that will bring in Asians, the way Ping Pang Pong and the Noodle restaurant across the street do. (Also the Rio has an always crowded Chinese restaurant.)

I'm sorry to see the excellent sushi bar that was in Little Buddah's go. We loved that restaurant. I'm looking forward to trying the new Szechuan restaurant as soon as it opens.

Perhaps. But "more reasonable prices" assumes you're paying cash for the food. For those who eat where their comps are, any restaurant across the street ("Ping Pang Pong" inside Gold Coast was the specific reference in this instance) is not directly comparable. Unless you have comps at both casinos it's an irrelevant comparison. There is certainly overlap in the player base between the Gold Coast and Palms, but a lot of players strongly prefer one over the other --- for a variety of reasons.

sometimes casino managers get defensive. Asking for a comp to the "Lousy Swan" might not be the strategy that yields the best result. Then again, it's possible that in several months, everybody will call it that.

Did anyone complain about the food?  Did anyone complain about anything regarding the Palms restuarant?  If so, I missed it.  Misscraps merely found the name funny, which indeed it was.

Now I had to laugh. Come on, “by far” the best in town?

(My husband says I'm thinking in English not Chinese...but come on.....is it me or is this an awful name! I'm still laughing....)
