Yes, I played vp and did the swipe and win three times. I got $5 and $10 in free play and $15 in food.

They just say "slots" meaning both slot machines and video poker. For example, the rules for their current swipe and win say that you must earn so many "slot points", but video poker is definitely eligible.
[vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 22 NOV 2011
Bob in this interesting column made me chuckle with:
"...Staying away from a casino in Las Vegas because we don't like a rule change still leaves us with several dozen other nearby casinos. For people in certain other parts of the country it's a bigger deal. There might be one casino 10 minutes away and one more 30 minutes away. Losing the closer one is a big hit..."
Here in New England it's 2 (bad) casinos in CT an hour away (by car) or Vegas 7 hours away (by plane). :-)

Re: [vpFREE] Harrah's Cherokee
Harry: We've been to Cherokee 4 times when visiting my wife's parents who live in Asheville. The hotel is really nice, their gourmet restaurant is above average, but their casino isn't something you'd want to go back to. The entire property's been upgraded and expanded upon the past few years so it's an overall decent place.
Good luck at Ak-Chin or wherever you plan to stay and/or play at in the Phoenix area. We stayed at the new Casino Arizona Talking Stick Resort on a local's free visit offer just before we left for good, and it is a very nice and modern little property.

Subject: [vpFREE] Harrah's Cherokee
Thanksgiving plans have been dashed when close friends, who were to make the drive to our new home in Marietta from Philly, cancelled this weekend (one was hospitalized with complications related to colon cancer for which he was treated a year ago October. We're hoping for the best and will visit next week.)
So the turkey's on ice until family visits at Christmas and we've decided instead to check out Cherokee, just a 3 hour drive.
Looking for a little feedback (there's already a fair amount here and in other forums ... just asking for it to be freshened up a bit).
I've already gathered that there's nothing "playable" under $5.
One thing that's caught my eye is discussion re a game called "Shamrock 7's". It's a joker wild game (quint jackpot) in which any final hand with trip 7's enters a bonus round akin to that of the Bally's Goldmine Bonus vp for a full house.
What I find notable is that the manufacturer of the game isn't licensed for NV or AC, leading me to a suspicion that the machines don't deal a "fair" deal. Not what I would expect to find in a Harrah's/CZR branded casino ... but I realize that all bets are off when it comes to tribal gaming and any oversight.
In any case, we're doing TG dinner at Paula Deen's Kitchen -- reviews sound positive, though mixed on service.
Reserved a premium room, Creek Tower. Sounds like one of the other towers offers a jacuizzi tub in it's premium rooms, but didn't like the decor.
Looking for a laid back one-night visit ... headed to PHX Friday. Thanks for any feedback.

Who knows how they do it. A year or so back, when we checked in at RIO, they gave us a C end suite. I was Diamond, but never ever talked to a host before, then or after.

Googled shamrock 7's and got company name. It's a N.C. company and they stress "sweepstakes. From their FAQ page:
http://www.figure8tech.com/sweepstakes-software/faqs.php/
"...What is a Sweepstakes? How are sweepstakes softwares legal, and are they legal in my state?
United States consumer sales promotion known as a sweepstake (also known by its inflected forms which are both single and plural: sweepstakes and sweeps) has become associated with marketing promotions targeted toward both generating enthusiasm and providing incentive reactions among customers by enticing consumers to submit free entries into drawings of chance (and not skill) that are tied to product or service awareness wherein the featured prizes are given away by sponsoring companies. Prizes can vary in value from less than one dollar to more than one million U.S. dollars and can be in the form of cash, cars, homes, electronics, etc. Sweepstakes Softwares are legal because of the element of free entry. Sweepstakes Softwares can be played for free. Therefore it is not a lottery..."
