Re: [vpFREE] Re: South Point Mailers

South Point mailers to out of towners have always been useless or non-existent.
The hosts will comp rooms to winners and losers alike. It's food comps that you may have a problem with if you are a winner.

With play of 30k a day you would get RFB and a lot more free play at almost any other "locals" casino.

Southpoint started sending $15 fsp after 3 (winning) stays on our visits to NV from east coast. $30K action/day.

Host sets up comped room. Haven't asked for any other comps.
Happy with the .30% cashback and their 75 cent hot dogs.
Guess takes awhile to get on mailing list.
5 min. to airport is sweet.

I'm almost positive they don't have anything for quarters. Seems to me I remember there being SDB (99.69%) also, in addition to NSU, for dollars of course. That was a couple Vegas trips ago so like a couple years ago for me.

I went to Vegas in June this year, only stopped at one Dottys, I saw PNSU. So obviously I didn't look very hard this time. In fact, now that I think about it, it was at a Food 4 Less.

I think the problem is that I based my observation on the $2 denom we play for the W-2 G promo. Maybe 16/10 NSU is not available for quarters.
I'll put my faith in Bob D.'s math and record keeping as far superior to mine in evaluating this play.

[vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 30 JUL 2013

Don't mess with Bob. LOL! I'm looking forward to part 2. My experience with gamblers who rip off other gamblers is you just don't do it. It violates a strict honor code in gambling. The news travels fast through the hustler's grapevine on those that transgress. So that we all know not to get ourselves trapped up by the guy. But this guy Toll is just really dumb. He took a shot at a gambler who has one of the biggest bully pulpits (radio show, gambling columns, forums) in all of professional gambling.

This is a Doyle Brunson story. When asked about being ripped off by fellow gamblers his response was like "I've been suckered out of a hell of a lot more money by businessmen in suit and ties than by my fellow gamblers."

Re: [vpFREE] Re: LVRJ: Dotty's to acquire Hacienda Hotel & Casino outside Boulder City

I pretty much agree with Bob's analysis and play it the same way, although generally a different game and denomination. I thought the qualification/penalty period was the previous 3 cash back periods versus 4 calendar months, but I could be wrong. In the past, W-2G bonuses drawings were always 1 in 10 when I counted what was posted on the bulletin board.

Respectably submitted,

VVPP

Respectfully, Tom, I would suggest legwork.

RE: [vpFREE] Re: LVRJ: Dotty's to acquire Hacienda Hotel & Casino outside Boulder City

vegasvpplayer wrote: Have you ever had a 3 month winning period and still got a respectful mailer? Their "bounceback" mailers have always been a percentage rebate of loses.

This is generally in agreement with my experience (assuming he meant "respectable" rather than "respectful") --- except I believe it's a 4-month cycle.

I play $25 NSU (actually 25-coin $5 NSU --- which means $125 per hand) there. It creates W2Gs on royals, deuces, wild royals, 5-of-a-kinds, and straight flushes. Playing less than that creates fewer W2Gs. --- i.e. playing $5 per hand only gets you W2Gs on royals. Playing $6 per hand gives you W2Gs on royals and deuces. Playing $50 per hand gives you W2Gs on wild royals as well. Playing $75 per hand gives you W2Gs on 5-of-a-kinds. The reason you want W2Gs there is they have a promo where some percentage of W2Gs get a 10% rebate. That is, if you have a $2,000 W2G, some of the time you'll get an extra $200. I calculate that it's between 1-in-15 and 1-in-20 W2Gs that get the rebate.

In any form of deuces, you lose between the times you get deuces and royals. That's just the nature of the game. So I play about $50K per week (playing only during hours where you get 2x points, which means 0.20% --- which is the highest you can get on the good games) and get decent mailers and some W2G rebates. Whenever I hit deuces or a royal, I stay out of all Dotty's for four months (except to pick up mailers > $5 while they last and to check to see if I got a 10% rebate on my last group of W2Gs.) Mailers go from Sunday to Saturday and you can always pick up your mailers "a day early to a day late" That means going in on Saturday or Sunday every other week allows you to collect two mailers at once.

After four months I go back and play and am eligible for good mailers again. It's a weird system, but once you figure it out it's a pretty profitable place to play.

I personally have no problem staying out of a place for four months if the conditions aren't right. If you're somebody who's going to "play anyway," you're giving up a lot by continuing to play at Dotty's when you've won recently. Discipline is a valuable yet underrated aspect to the winning process.

Whatever they do to the Hacienda property in particular is irrelevant to me personally --- I simply live too far from there for that to be a smart play, given the other opportunities around. But seeing the Estey family is planning on staying in the casino business even though Station Casinos took a big crap on their business model is good news for players.

They run their places a bit differently --- which is good. It takes awhile to figure out their system --- and on this thread you can see that some folks haven't and are frustrated by that --- but it's not rocket science and players can prosper there.

Kmarts and Food 4 Less locations aren't smoky at all --- so that's where I play --- but the Dotty's inside are only open when the stores themselves are open --- so they are not 24-hour (unless you can find a 24-hour Kmart). These locations tend to put their bottom-of-the-barrel employees in them so if you get a W2G you might have to train them on how to fill out the form. And if you're NOT playing big enough to hit W2Gs, there's nothing special about Dotty's. You have to play AT LEAST $5 per hand to get NSU and similar games. If your bankroll can't handle that, and/or you need progressives to make you happy, you should play elsewhere.

Bob
