[vpFREE] Re: New MGM Players Club Program SUX!
I haven't seen the booklet yet, but according to the FAQ section on mlife.come "In Las Vegas M life Players Club casinos, receive 10 Tier Credits for every $2 of coin-in on reel and video slot machines or $10 of coin-in on video poker and specialty games."
This would mean just $200,000 coin-in on video poker is required to earn the Platinum status.
In my own case, I recently did about $423,000 coin-in on vp (never played at MGM before), have over 1,000,000 tier points and a high Platinum status. I don't know at what rate I got there, but won't complain.
[vpFREE] Majestic Star - Change in requirements for Access card
Starting with the current cycle (January, 2011 through June, 2011), it will
take 10,000 points ($10 coin in = 1 point for video poker, $5 coin in = 1
point for slots.) per six months for the top-level Access (black) card at
the Majestic Star.
This is effectively a doubling of the previous requirement. The Platinum
card is 2,000 points per six months (unchanged).
With the complete elimination of anything playable on 3, 5, 10 and 100 plays
many mid-level players will find it tough to meet the new requirements.
I have updated the database for this.

Some guys did pack. But I've never owned a gun in my life. The problem with packing weapons is you are always subject to being arrested for trespassing on railroad property. Packing a weapon could get you another charge. The Santa Fe Railroad for instance, which connected southern California with Texas had an absolute zero tolerance policy against freight tramps. You get caught on Santa Fe you get arrested, period.
Burlington Northern connected Chicage with Seattle. It's the northern most track in the U.S and known as the HiLine. Union Pacific connects Los Angeles and San Francisco with Chicago. Southern Pacific connected Seattle with Sacramento, Reno, Salt Lake City, Pueblo, Colorado and Kansas City. They could be pretty lenient at times. But if any kind of thievery was going on with their cargo the heat was on. Packing a weapon could get you another charge.

With the booklet we both received today explaining the new program, they
included a Platinum card for each of us (with the same number as our old
card). So I am assuming that they are looking back at our play history -
how far back I don't know. But we have played off and on at several MGM
properties, sometimes fairly heavily, for many years.

My wife and I had joint accounts with MGM. We both are
Platinum based on previous play.
The cashback rate for VP has been reduced drastically from
.22% previously. Now at the lower tiers it is .1% and only
.133% for Platinum players. For slot players the cut is
less drastic. Previously the slot rate was .66%.
The new rate will be .5% for the lower tiers up to .66%
for Platinum.
The comp. rate is $.02 per point which comes to double the
cashback rate.
The above figures are from a brochure I received in today's mail.

I'm old and soft now but I was a pretty tough kid. I could stack 60 pound boxes for a 12 hour shift like it was nothing. And I knew how to handle myself in a fight.
Yuppie hobos stood out like red headed stepchildren. Nice clothes, designer backpacks and sleeping bags, $200 boots. They were easy marks for the FTRA. I imagine Sidetrack running into a yuppie hobo and looking down at those boots wondering if they will fit him.

I was immediately given Platinum level based on past play history, I guess. My experience was that you earn points at the higher 1 point for each $7.50 coin in for Platinum. These are not an extra point grant. When you play, the points accrue at the standard $10 = 1 point rate. After you pull your card and reinsert it, they add the extra points to make the $7.50 = 1 point TOTAL figure.
[vpFREE] Hot Shot and Arthur C. Clarke-Happy 14th Birthday HAL
As long as we are straying tangentially off-topic here are some tidbits:
When I hear "Hot Shot", I think of the early 1970's Gottlieb company's Hot Shot pinball machine. This "pin" and its brother Big Shot (don't remember which was the two player or four player version) was pool room based with a high skill element to hit the Red Light Special to win a free game. Williams and Bally were Gotleib's main competitors in this time frame, luckily for them they had other streams of revenue to develop in later years.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: vpFREE2 New "Feature", the Rankings
You can get to the Forums Link through the Tools pull down menu.
If I had to guess, the rankings are probably based on how many times the
casino was accessed during the month. If you check the "More..." for a
particular casino you will see the ranking by month. This would also
explain why there are so many ties at the bottom of the list of 411 casinos.
If anybody finds out more let us know.

[vpFREE] Re: vpFREE2 New "Feature", the Rankings
I dunno why they list it as penny's, because you have to play 100 pennies to get the full-pay, which is equivalent to making it a 20c machine...

[vpFREE] M Life at Las Vegas MGM Properties
Played a little bit today at Mandalay Bay to see how the new M Life program works. Not good news for video poker players.
$10 coin in = 1 point = 1c FreePlay = 0.1% Sapphite & Pearl
$8.75 coin in = 1 point = 1c FreePlay = 0.114% Gold
$7.50 coin in = 1 point = 1c FreePlay = 0.133% Platinum
All levels $10 coin in = 1 Holiday Gift point
15,000 points = $50 FreePlay = 0.033%
Under the old system everyone got 0.22% FreePlay and 0.07% FreePlay at Holiday Shopping for video poker.

Thanks ms. vpFREE3, because I am amused with anyone trying to rank any grouping of casinos.
