I haven't seen the booklet yet, but according to the FAQ section on mlife.come "In Las Vegas M life Players Club casinos, receive 10 Tier Credits for every $2 of coin-in on reel and video slot machines or $10 of coin-in on video poker and specialty games."
This would mean just $200,000 coin-in on video poker is required to earn the Platinum status.
In my own case, I recently did about $423,000 coin-in on vp (never played at MGM before), have over 1,000,000 tier points and a high Platinum status. I don't know at what rate I got there, but won't complain.
