Dont expect dim sum any more at the highly touted new Palms Szechwan restaurant. We were there yesterday, little more than a month after opening and were told dim sum is no longer on the menu. I advise calling before going to make sure they dont abruptly change the hours either, since the website was wrong about dim sum. Looks like many of the features that reviewers first oohed and awed about at the grand opening are not coming after all, including the menu.
On the other hand we had an excellent lunch, and the crispy shrimp with lemon sauce was awesome, though didnt taste of lemons. Everyone in our 5 person group enjoyed the meal. I was severely disappointed though at the missing dim sum. Without it, I have a suspicion that the Palm's wont be able to pull Asian gamblers away from the Gold Coast who flock to Ping Pang Pong every day for dim sum, at least before 1 p.m.
I dont really understand what the restaurant and Palms are thinkng. The highly touted Chicago chef was brought in with much fanfare, but the restaurant has hardly been open long enough to have good word of mouth pull in patrons, and now the dim sum has been dumped. Odd.
