[vpFREE] The Rest of the Story

I just got a call from the Detective on the case thanking me for calling
them and telling me they have the guy in custody and have recovered my gold
saw from a pawn shop where he had pawned it. Amazing! They were grateful
to me for pursuing it. I will have to testify at trial and it was not the
young man I could not identify for several good reasons. I don't know if
the gold plated chain was with it but I'll be happy to get it back sometime
fairly soon.

Nidge, in fact it was in the parking garage, just outside - perhaps thirty
feet into the Emerald parking area.

[vpFREE] Re: Tipping the Valet

When I go to Nevada (& I've been at least 350 times since the mid 90's)I generally check into a half dozen hotels to get whatever they're offerring me each visit, and I always valet park. The only time I ever tip on the way in is when I drive my best car and want it looked after out front (I give the attendant a twenty) and that hasn't been very often. All other times I'm in a rental, and I have never given more than a buck on the way out--regardless if I'm at Sam's Town or Wynn.

I don't worry about what they think or what kind of looks they give me, or if they pool tips or not. None of those are the reason I'm there. My rental car isn't worth a thing to me, and I've never even considered blowing money in any casino.

[vpFREE] Wynn Slot Club Changes

The rules of the Wynn/Encore slot club have changed.

Old:

Machines with 9/6 JoB earn zero points.
$9 Coin-In = 1 Point on all other video poker
Free Play: 50 Points = $1 (0.222%)

New:

$15 Coin-In = 1 Point on machines with 9/6 JoB.
Free Play: 100 Points = $1 (0.067%)

$6 Coin-In = 1 Point on all other video poker.
Free Play: 100 Points = $1 (0.167%)

The new rules are on their website: http://www.wynnlasvegas.com/red-card

And now you can create an account on their website.

I noticed that they had converted all my previous points to free play at the old (higher) rate. So I started playing under the new system with a zero balance.

Also found out that locals now get one buffet for each 1500 points earned (after the initial free buffets for new sign-ups). Used to be 750 points. Don't know if this applies to visitors also.

I played the 25c Spin Poker Deluxe at the Hard Rock LV today and it's now $2 coin-in per point instead of $4.

The only machines I saw stickered as $4 per point were the three in high limit with 9/6 JoB and two Ultimate X machines. Maybe there are others.

[vpFREE] Tipping the Valet

At least $3 to $5 both coming in and going out. Think how much your car is
worth, and how much you're about to blow in the casino.
I am a tourist though and not a full time Vegas VP junkie out chasing
jackpots for a living, trying to forget they're stuck in the desert, so
YMMV.

Maximizing the arithmetic mean, which would involve betting it all every chance you get an edge, makes absolutely no sense if you value keeping a bankroll. Your risk of ruin approaches 100% with such a system. On the other hand if you have money to burn and are looking for a way to burn it, this is probably as good as any other, at least you get some value back in comps, until the casino figures out that you've burned all your money.

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Mugged & Tipping

I do not know about other casinos but while I was waiting for my car at The Orleans I was talking to the valet at the desk and said that the shift pools their tips... That would be OK if they all start at the same time ...    Richard  from  Ca.

Huh, I would have thought they rotate between doing pickups and dropoffs,
if not over the course of a single shift, then at least from week to week.
I would also have guessed they pool tips. But I would also suppose this
could vary from casino to casino based on policy/layout/etc.
