Very interesting, Frank. I'll look into it as a friend of the family when I get the time. I'm willing to bet that out of the 11,000 members of vpFREE I'm not the only direct descendet of Col. William Claiborne. He was the quentessential politician of 1600's Virginia.

RE: [vpFREE] Scouting for plays??
The bad news is that you need to check every machine and every denomination on that machine as well.
Easier to do early morning when the casino is not crowded.
I would not try to do it all at once which would draw attention to you but spread it out over time and you always want to do some occasional checking even if you have looked at a machine in the past since paytables can change.

I have been lucky enough to find several playable games at my local casino (Ameristar KC) but they are quickly being removed. Ameristar is a very large casino, with a bunch of machines. My question to you is, what is the best way to scout a casino for plays? Do you check a single machine's schedule in a row, or every other one? Is there a systematic way to do a scouting trip that you guys have found to be easier?

Randy, I'm sorry that my emails have not gotten through to you.
Forwarding agents also often reject email with a large attachment,
especially if it contains an application. Apparently they even check
whether a .zip compressed file contains an app.
Another possibility is that you don't have my address in your email
program's address book, and/or you don't have your email program's
preferences set to always accept mail from anyone in your address book.
Anyway, I just sent the update to the address you just gave, and it
didn't come back rejected, so hopefully it got through. Please let me
know. These problems are rare, and I do my best to keep all my customers
up to date.
Regards,
Dan

[vpFREE] Re: Tax Consequences was FSP strategy ideas
I agree with what you say but the operative phrase in what I wrote was "For
part-timers, filing Sched C as a professional is a course that ought to
considered carefully especially if you have another source of income that
involves a significant amount of your time." I have never been though an IRS
audit, either personal or corporate (but have been through plenty of annual
corporate audits) so I'll defer to your comments about the audits. I
strongly agree that meticulous record keeping is the best way to proceed. My
feeling is that the best strategy is to avoid audits because an audit for cause
(other than a random audit) is more likely to lead to audits in the future
especially if you have a high AGI.

I don't recall seeing much of what Schedule C-filing professional gamblers
do or experience, but I'll explain what I saw.
Because I also wrote and trained others here and at times around the
country for about 11 years, most of my expenses having ANYTHING to do with any
of that, were claimed--and it made a huge difference. I also went thru three
IRS audits during that time, and every penny I deducted was reviewed &
allowed.
The key is in being precise, realistic, and having meticulous record
keeping as well as being nice to the auditor(s) throughout the process. There is
really no need for anxiety, worry, or loss of sleep if you do things
right.

Re: [vpFREE] Epic gambling point system
I've seen obvious "gaffed" vp machines all over the world, and since cruise ships are all registered outside of the US, they too have no reason to run random vp. Some use on-line gambling site lines like "regulated in accordance with Las Vegas rules" or "similar to Nevada regulations" to try to hide that they can do whatever they choose to, but to excited vacationers, it does the job.

As for gaffed machines, I am speaking of Epic only. Other NCL and cruise line ships may well have normal random machines with bad pay tables. I've been on others and never had VP machines that seemed gaffed like these.

They changed their name because of blood ties to the Stewart Clan.

[vpFREE] Epic gambling point system
My 9300 points equaled $93 in free play, but if u talk to host/casino services if you have more than 2500 points, they will give u comps instead of free play, so I got 323$ taken off my bill instead. Also they can comp specialty restaurants too, and did so as well with meal for 4 at Cagneys ($25 per person) plus bottle of wine and paid for lobster there (an extra $8 per person) for me.
As for gaffed machines, I am speaking of Epic only. Other NCL and cruise line ships may well have normal random machines with bad pay tables. I've been on others and never had VP machines that seemed gaffed like these.
[vpFREE] Re: Scouting for plays??
I feel good about the Job, BP, DB, and DDB paytables, but struggle with dueces, bonus dueces and other game paytables. I have put the old vpfree paytables page as a bookmark on my phone to help. Just looking for some help and ideas on how to make this a little easier.
