My 9300 points equaled $93 in free play, but if u talk to host/casino services if you have more than 2500 points, they will give u comps instead of free play, so I got 323$ taken off my bill instead. Also they can comp specialty restaurants too, and did so as well with meal for 4 at Cagneys ($25 per person) plus bottle of wine and paid for lobster there (an extra $8 per person) for me.
As for gaffed machines, I am speaking of Epic only. Other NCL and cruise line ships may well have normal random machines with bad pay tables. I've been on others and never had VP machines that seemed gaffed like these.
