Re: [vpFREE] Re: Smoking Bans - WAS Jean Scott's Frugal Vegas BLOG - 13 JAN 2...

I am a non smoker and 90% of the Video Poker players that I know are
smokers. We all have rights and as long as no one is blowing their smoke in my
direction I don't care what they do. In todays society it seems to me that we are
losing rights everwhere we turn and this is another example of that. We have
far bigger problems to tackle than smoking issues in this country. It is in my
opinion a sad state of affairs at the present time. Let's all make a list of
problems we think are important and put them in order of importance... and
where does this issue fall on the list.
Now go out there and hit some Royals.

I have never been called a libertarian before. Not sure if I should be
insulted or proud. I always thought this country was founded on
freedoms and a lot of those freedoms for the past 30 years, and
especially the past 7, have been under assault. I am a non smoker by
the way.

This is strange. The majority of VP players that I know are smokers.
We must not know the same people. Maybe you can explain how a good
player equals a non smoker.

Excellent Post Caseydog. Some smokers (not all) are so blinded by
their addiction, that they will hide behind liberterian arguments to
rationalize their right to light up anywhere.

Casinos know that smokers are more likely to drink and lose heavily.
As such, smokers' rights will be defended by the casinos to "our"
death.

p.s. 90 percent of the video poker players that I know are non smokers,
i.e. good player = not self destructive = non smoker.

[vpFREE] Need help figuring out HA for this game

It's called Five Aces and there is a fifth ace in the deck with a
star (no suit). The fifth Ace cannot make a flush or straight flush.
Here is the paytable:

Five Aces: 6000
Royal Flush: 4000
Four Aces (2,3,4 kicker): 2000
Four Aces (5-K kicker): 800
Four 2-4 (A-4 kicker): 800
Straight Flush: 500
Four 2-4 (5-K kicker): 400
Four 5-K: 250
Full House: 40
Flush: 25
Straight: 20
Three of a Kind: 10
Two Paid: 5
Pair of Aces: 5

For the life of me I have no clue how to figure this out but figure
someone here could! Thanks in advance!

Re: [vpFREE] Arizona Casinos

I don't think the inventories have changed much since they were so poor
anyway.

Keep in mind that Harrahs Ak Chin is about 25 miles south of Phoenix
near the city of Maricopa. And there may be photo-radar between
Maricopa and Phoenix.

Re: [vpFREE] Payback Scale Question

The Nevada Gaming Control Board has statistics which show that except for the progressive slot machines (they keep tabs on Megabucks but it is also true of the others) the higher denominations have higher payouts until you get to the $25 or $100 plus area where they flatten or even invert.

If you load up a penny machine to the max you may be playing more per pull than a nickel or quarter machine but it is still counted as a penny machine by the Board. There is a website that has some of the Board's numbers on it called VegasMadeEasy.com which also has some other info such as the back door ways to get to the big casinos, etc.

I have a slot machine payback question.
Most experts explain / agree that slot machines' payback percentages
get slightly better as the denominations increase. So $1 slots pay
slightly higher payback than $.25 which pay slightly higher than $.05,
etc.

So with the proliferation of "penny" machines, which you can play as
little as a few cents or as much as $50 in one pull, where do these
machines stack up on this frequently accepted scale? Am I playing a
penny slot or a dollar slot? Could it be possible that the payback
percentage is being calculated based on the level of coin-in for each
pull? Or, are these machines' paybacks set at the manufacturer just
like any traditional reel machine is?

Thanks,

Scott

I remember when there were always all sorts of announcements about
great promos and deals and bargains and such. Now---an announcement
about Coast Casinos' NEW MUCH MUCH WORSE SLOT CLUB!!!! And how you can
get a apple pie at South Point. Whee.

Do things suck that badly in Vegas nowadays, or are there a lot of
deals that just don't make it into the Friday column?

But if they are anything like the apple pies GN-L gave away in Laughlin about
six years ago as a November promo it will be worth the trip. Those frozen
deep dish suckers must have weighed five lbs., had a lattice crust too. The
reefer truck for pies was parked next to the frozen turkey one, by valet out
front.

We need some pie feedback so see what a deal this really is at South Point.

[vpFREE] Re: Harrah's "Privileges" Calendar for January/February

Harrah's, Joliet had multiplier day every Monday accelerating to 10x if you
play every Monday. That was last year. Now the multiplier Mondays are gone.

[vpFREE] Re: Slot Rewards/2 Cards

I would keep your accounts separate. Keep in mind that you are the
scum of the earth to Harrah's---a lowlife dirtball VIDEO POKER PLAYER.
Harrah's doesn't LIKE you because you don't LOSE very much.

Your wife, on the other hand, is their ideal customer, because she
stands to lose about ten times as quickly as you. THEREFORE: as long
as Harrah's has these relative perceptions of you, she will get the
goodies, and you will not. However, is this a problem? You can share
the room and food comps and other offers that she gets. The piddle
that Harrah's gives YOU might be a duplication in some cases anyway
(like a second room offer for the same period).

So then, you say, why don't I just put my play on my wife's card?
Well, it might very well affect her overall rating. The effect of
combining your VP play with her slot play will be to "dilute" her
theoretical loss. You already know that you will receive very little
comps for your VP play, and that will still be true even if it is
combined with her slot play.
