Iconic Fremont Hotel and Casino Celebrates 60th Anniversary
Celebration Will Feature Gaming Promotions and More
Las Vegas—Downtown Las Vegas' iconic Fremont Hotel and Casino will celebrate 60 years in business on Wednesday, May 18, and will continue its diamond anniversary celebrations every Thursday throughout the summer with kiosk games, dining specials, Slot Dollar drawings and even a special commemorative gaming chip.
"The Fremont has been a part of the Downtown Las Vegas experience since 1956, so it's only fitting that we would create some excitement of our own with the celebration of this milestone anniversary," said Jim Sullivan, Vice President and General Manager of Fremont Hotel and Casino.
Fremont's rich history began on May 18, 1956, when it opened as one of the first high-rise hotels in Las Vegas. Boyd Gaming assumed control of the property in 1985 when the Company purchased the Fremont and its sister property, the Stardust.
A kickoff celebration for the Fremont's 60th anniversary will be held on Wednesday, May 18 at noon. Boyd Gaming Executive Chairman Bill Boyd will be joined by former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman to kick off the festivities, which will feature cupcakes and champagne, and a reveal of the new limited-edition 60th anniversary gaming chip. The public is invited to attend.
Anniversary promotions will be held on May 18 to celebrate the big day. These specials include:
* The 60th Anniversary drawings, where 60 guests will each be awarded $60 in Slot Dollars. Ten winners will be selected each hour from 2 p.m. – 7 p.m. Drawings will be held at the end of the Blackjack pit.
* The 60th Anniversary Kiosk Game, which will feature slot point multipliers, plus provide bonus entry opportunities into the anniversary drawings. This kiosk game will become available on May 18 and last throughout the summer.
* B Connected members can earn points to redeem for dining offers at Paradise Buffet. Earn 100 points on Wednesday and redeem for a breakfast or lunch buffet voucher. The voucher will be valid on Wednesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 19 until 2 p.m. Guests can also earn 200 points and receive a dinner voucher, which is valid for a dinner buffet on May 18 until closing.
* Fremont's 60th Anniversary four-course prix fixe meal will be offered at Second Street Grill. Two people can dine for $100, or one for $65. Enjoy escargot bourguignonne or a jumbo shrimp cocktail to start, then select soup or salad. Entrée selections include beef Wellington or chicken francaise; dessert selections include Black Forest cake or crème brulee. This limited-availability menu will be served on Wednesday, May 18 only.
* The Filament bar will introduce its anniversary drink special, the Fremont's 60th Kiss. Enjoy Southern Comfort, amaretto and sweet & sour topped with a cherry and lime garnish for only $5.
B Connected members can keep the anniversary celebration going with more exciting promotions, all held on Thursdays each week throughout the summer, beginning May 19:
* The anniversary drawings will continue, with six winners selected to win $100 Slot Dollars every Thursday at 6 p.m. Drawings will be held at the B Connected club desk.
* The Paradise Buffet dining offers will be offered each Thursday. Earn 100 points on Thursday and redeem for a breakfast or lunch buffet voucher. The breakfast or lunch voucher will be valid on Thursdays and Fridays until 2 p.m. Earn 200 points and receive a dinner voucher, which is valid on Thursdays only until closing.
* Cupcakes will be served every Thursday at 2 p.m. at The Filament bar.
