They would have made plenty if they would have just left them there and gave them time to find an audience. It takes a while for people to figure out that there are decent progressives to be played at the M. Especially for the M since it is out of the way and lots of people don't get there very often. Nothing is worse for a casino than being a ghost town. People come in take one look at how empty it is then turn right back around. Those things were drawing an audience and would have continued to draw more. They were solving a problem that the cavernous empty M really needs to solve. So now they put them on extra crappy pay tables just exacerbating their empty casino floor problem.

I think he said a $1000 at a time, I may be wrong on the details. And they apparently have 30 days to get it done, so if they are approaching 30 days and still have a bunch of money they may load more of it at one time.

[vpFREE] Re: Casinos and the Economy
Not finish off.
But when you have a trillion dollars in wealth rubbed out in 3 weeks; when you have CD, Treasury and money market rates under 1%, which a whole lot of people, especially seniors, depend on for their "fun" money the adverse consequences are obvious. Plus, for LV, which has so much foreign traffic, the Asian, Brazilian and European markets have been crushed.
Canadians are the only ones who have profited! Plus, gas has gone down a bit.

[vpFREE] Re: The Mandalay Bay Hustlers Convention and the Lucky Coin Bonus System
Certainly training his players was tad easier than training VP team members, but let's be fair to Peter. He got the math for "capped progressives" spot on and that's no small feat.
For at least a year I was the only person in Vegas with solid play numbers for those things, while everyone else was going around and playing them on hunches or worse, bad math.
It is also quite telling that there are several teams there in Australia and their strategy was to just follow Peter, because they could not do the math themselves.
Right place, right time, sure...but I think also, right person!

Last night I got to listen to Frank's interview of Peter Listen on the July 28th edition of Gambling With An Edge. Listen is one lucky guy. He was in the right place at the right time with the requisite knowledge or intelligence to figure out the Lucky Coin Bonus Systen. He was also given bigtime jackpots with bigtime meter speed. Never before has a casino hustler been given such an easy way to make bigtime dough.
If you've been reading or listening to Frank Kneeland then you know the monumental effort they went through in teaching their team players how to play video poker, i.e., team training techniques.
On the Australian lucky coin plays here is the team training technique: "Put the money in the machine. Put the machine on turbo speed. Now start pecking the start button like a woodpecker pecks on a tree."
That all the team members needed to know how to do.

[vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LV Advisor Column - 9 AUG 2011
Thanks for the welcome back, Bob. I listened to the Annie Duke interview yesterday. I'm catching up on all the ones I missed. I'm gonna have to give her book a read.
Annie has Montana history which I learned through various articles and word of mouth. She met and married Ben Duke while at college in New Hampshire. They moved to Ben's hometown, Columbia, Montana, just west of Billings. Evidently they weren't making a whole lot of money there and her brother Howard Lederer steered her towards poker.
He tutored and mentored her and she wiped out the 10-20 holdem games in Billings. Sucked all the money out of the games. It was mostly at the Crystal Lounge where I first played holdem in 1984. I know the current owner and manager of the Crystal. The poker room is in the back. The bar has karaoke 7 nights a week. I haven't been there for awhile but I always liked running there customers off by gettting up and doing a couple karoake songs.
Eventually Howard invited Annie to the WSOP and the rest is history.
Take care

LVA Question of the Day - 11 AUG 2011
Q: I watch and record shows about Las Vegas history and
documentaries whenever I can at home in Canada. Why do there
not seem to be as many shows about Las Vegas these days? The
ones I see now seem to all be very outdated re-runs.
