It's one of the most amazing books I've ever read in scope, depth, and insight. It's not cheep, and worth every penny. I own three copies. I lend two out, and use the other for reference from time to time.
I'm also trying to get the author on my radio show. Would anyone like that?

A question on relieving boredom, Cool!
Well I find all things casino gaming related, dull as dirt. No, I take that back. I used to like to play in the dirt.
Gambling is a way to make money. If you aren't making money doing it, it is a waste of time AND money. If you are making money at it, then you can spend that money on something fun.
Here's what I do:
1. Play D&D
2. Square Dance
3. Sword Fight
4. Read a lot of science magazines.
5. Cook my own gourmet Indian Food from scratch
6. Watch a lot of science shows.
7. Pet my cat (Bocu De Chat)
8. Post on vpFREE (which is fun most of the time)
9. Hiking / camping
10. Dinning out at new restaurants
11. Writing comedy for my radio show
12. Reading novels
13. Petting my other cat (Fukui San)
Anyway...if you are bored, you should not gamble to fill the dead time. I can't advocate doing something addictive, pointless and costly as a time filler.
I only advocate professional gambling as a way to make money, either as a career or a second job. "JOB" is the key word here. You work your job, so you can spend your free time doing something fun.
Every book I have read on the subject, suggests that if you enjoy gambling and find it fun, it is the signs of a potential gambling addiction issues. (THIS IS NOT MY OPINION--IT'S SOMETHING I READ)
Please read the book "Best Possible Odds" if you disagree.

Meredith,
Do the math.
Of the thousands(?) of folks who read this, most 'lurk'
here and don't contribute.
It has to be less than a percent of the members read it.
Most folks read and delete no matter what you send.
I would not take it as an affront to your value as a
person, nor as an indifferent attitude to your search
for friends.
Most people don't get involved in the discussion and
only watch it from the outside.

Meredith,
Another reason you may get few replies is that many receive this in digest form
and quickly skim it. I am a nickel/quarter player who sticks to double bonus or
full pay deuces most of the time. I am strickly small time and gererally unable
to answer math or probability questions. We have a condo in LV but are employed
in Seattle and get to town every other month or so to play for a weekend, so
really don't even get bounce back or much in the way of incentive.
I wish you luck in finding the response for which you are searching.

Good grief.
I never even mentioned grammar, and besides, it's possible to write
casually without being wordy.
But that's not even the point. Look, I encourage you to keep posting
in whatever style makes you happy -- all I'm saying is, how you write
just *might* be related to whether you get a response or not. I
suspect some people on here would be perfectly happy to respond to a
direct, simply-phrased question, but can't be bothered to wade through
two thousand words to find it.

Thank you for your kindness,
I will be leaving tomorrow yet, I will post a courteous, as always, Good-Bye to those who I have been kind and have shown class.
There is just too much spite that have displayed a true disdain in my earnest attempt to let people KNOW what a New VP player needs from a group and I've never dealt with men that were not behaving as a gentleman to me in a group.
My post was not mean, it was an honest account of actual facts. If you go through the history, you too will see that approximately 2% of my questions have had the courtesy that on would expect from professionals, they've acted like professionals alright but, nothing that I would say as a Lady in a public forum and no where near the hateful replies to a genuine plea for people to wake up.
However, Many of your most respected and one being more than likely the one that is Respected Highly and with 'just cause', they have written to me basically saying that I am batting a thousand trying to talk to the ones, who, of course Know it All..This was said TO me, not me saying this to the group or you, Your job is enough to have to deal with this situation that is truly sad that some are Great & Several of the replies were just crass and classless that is a waste of any lady's time, the bad negativity far outweighs the positive as shown in the rudeness..However, I will recall their names and make it a point to not give them a conversation with me.
Even though I feel more beautiful inside, when men meet me in person, it is more often than not, that they trip over their tongue..LOL. That is on them, Their response to me. I don't feel great about that when it comes to anyone that would make such a Far stretch in misinterpreting what I had to say and reply in a way that I'd LOVE to say plainly but, for the sake of my own dignity and honor, I will not.
You cannot control others so, sometimes you have to remove yourself from a situation that is handled so rudely by a few of the people that you'd think wouldn't behave so classless but, they exemplify something far below the lowest reply that I've ever seen where people are supposed to at least be at the end of the evolutionary chain..you just never know, until you press the button that reveals reality to those that will never achieve any amount of respect if this is their way of speaking & like you copied 'the proof is in the pudding' and sad that rude actions have ran several away from emails from others that have left, it is the exact same reason. I don't know how they found out or got my email ? but, I am getting loads of some really nice people so, in leaving, it looks like I am actually gaining some pretty great people that have ethics that show through what they say..
Not sure where I heard this but, it holds true, As a Man thinks, So Is He and from the Heart, the Mouth speaks..so, if this is true, I would have had some compassion but, seeing the closed mind to logic and reason, is not a person that can gain some character without their own consent.
Like I said, I'll say my goodbye's tomorrow.
Thank you very much,

I read every post on all the vpFREE forums and try to make
sure that every legitimate, video poker related question is
answered. I'm not aware of any that haven't received a
response.
When/if a question doesn't get answered in a couple of days,
it should be asked again, nicely.

Re: [vpFREE] re: Meredith
Thank you Pat,
Very Nice Class Lady !
I will be saying my goodbye's tomorrow or maybe in the AM as we are going to play after Kenny gets his nap :-). He's already gone out there today for a couple of hours but, he came home & said he missed his partner :-)..so, I asked him to get rested up since I am a night owl.
Our schedules are in conflict since, I have an illness that messes with my sleep patterns.
I'm unclear as to why you & hubby do not receive bounce back ? It would seem, that if the Casino's have a Las Vegas home address, you'd get the bounce back.
Is your Condo in a high rise because, that's what I want to buy in about a yr & 1/2. I hope the rates are as good then, as they are now.
Thanks for your Kind reply & I'd love to hear from you and your hubby when you come in and I'll send my number to you to your personal email. We keep up with the Events. I need to check about the country music awards, this year, I just have been swamped with a group that I run and business related things.
The funny thing is that the post has been twisted by twisted thinking and I don't have time for cretinous responses (notice, I did not say a person)...I haven't read anymore than 3 replies and I clicked into your post since, I had never had the chance to talk to you.
Peter called me Helen Reddy, never received that one..I'll try to send a couple of OFF pics, if it'll go through and if not, I'll post is as a Royalty (hehe),,,
Smiles,I will send you that email in a few :-)
