Re: [vpFREE] Re: Majestic Star 1 - Gary IN

Thanks Howard!  Not sure if the one extra unit is better overall since I'll have to fight vs. people wanting to play some other game, but it's definitely better than them yanking the game completely!

Re: [vpFREE] Re: Power Quads poker?

All I have seen is the payback range over every variant from their media sheet.  Only offering 500 credits for completing it makes more sense for a more moderate bump up in the return, but I think the uninformed player will think 500 credits is a bit chintzy for the bonus.

Here is that media sheet I was talking about.

The best available game variant is 101.42%.  Good luck finding that!!

One reason she should play on her own card is to get offers as well, but is it possible to have two copies of my card and thus she's earning status points for me as well? My only concern with doing this is that we may get no-mailed (if I'm using that term right).

I've noticed a strange quirk in the points at Stations. On both my
wife's card and mine recently, the starting points has sometimes been
25,000 points lower than it should have been, but then it has returned
these points after we played, as if it were borrowing them. We've had
no problem playing on each other's cards, including hitting jackpots.

You can do the promotion at all 4 casinos if you wish.  Mystery multipliers may differ between properties.

You just have to ask for a another card when you go in, and ask for 2. The people at the desk dont care.

Sorry if this was answered before

On Weds , can you play at one  property in the AM,  get your swipe multiplier, eat a buffet, etc.- perhaps earn 10K points.

then start over at a different property, swipe and get anew multiplier and then maybe earn 100+ points for a dinner buffet , get a movie pass, etc. and  earn another 10k in vp?

Or is the point  cap all on one card per day?

Buffet  comps at only first casino you play at?

[vpFREE] Re: South Point spin promotion

Like Bob D. I assumed 1 spin per day.  Luckily a close friend just "happened" to go there and play and was awarded the bonus spins automatically.  My friend noticed the spins were awarded every 2K points and just kept playing until he didn't get anymore free spins.

I just checked South Points web site and the promotion details listed there do not mention how many spins may be awarded.  I would call that sloppy work... but that is just me!

My spouse and I have played the promo 3 days for 4 spins each day.  On the first day, it appeared that the promo DID award the player with the better mailer a better prize.  I guess that was just random fluctuation.  The subsequent days results indicated that the mailer level is NOT a factor.  Our results were close the $15 per spin.

This promotion also states an advertised total of $500,000.  I believe the casino can adjust the "value" of the spins as the promotion proceeds based upon its results to date.  Perhaps they do this to ensure that they don't exceed their budget even if the promotion proves very popular.

G'luck all,

[vpFREE] Re: Newbie questions about Stations properties

I would never recommend that a smart gambler play at any Station
Casino. They have no-mailed many, many video poker players. The
biggest sin seems to be winning too much. And indications are that
playing on someone else's card, playing mainly on multiple point days
and playing mainly the better games like NSUD are also probably
no-no's.

[vpFREE] Re: Food comps at South Point

A.P. posted here recently that a South Point host told him that food
comps are based on your losses. This sounds right to me since to get a
good locals mailer, South Point video poker players must have big
actual losses or a really, really big theo.

I am staying at the SP next month with a comped room. I understand that
as of about a year ago they no longer offer a food allowance upfront,
but rather say to check with a host when leaving to see what food they
will comp. If any of you have stayed there as an out of towner recently,
how much food comps for how much play, or theo loss or whatever, have
you experienced there?

[vpFREE] video poker at Laughlin Avi

Just got a flyer for two free nights at Avi in Laughlin.  Apparently it is located on an Indian Reservation.  Is the video poker legit as it is in Vegas?

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Bob Dancer's LVA - 8 APR 2014

In the "Irrational Behavior" online course I'm taking that inspired this article, one of the things said is that most people cheat a little and most of us still think we are basically honest people. The way we make these two things exist simultaneously is to use rationalization in which we explain to ourselves that it's not really cheating because  . . .

In the two posts so far following the article, one used the rationalization that he'd take the extra card in order to save people behind him from wasting their time. The other said that casinos are basically unfair anyway so this is just "partial catch up."

I've oversimplified the earlier posts. And I'm certainly not criticizing them. These are simply ways each person justifies certain actions to himself. We all do this.

It turns out the most creative people (those who can come up with the most rationalizations for any given "dishonest" act) use this skill and are more dishonest than those who aren't so creative. We all know some very creative people!

There are people (including Anthony Curtis on last week's GWAE) who claim that whether they won or lost or whether they had to stand in line wouldn't compromise their basic morals. Possibly so. It's also sometimes different when we are sitting back hypothesizing and when we are in the heat of the moment!

RE: [vpFREE] 9/5 Super Double Bonus Strategy

An offsuit 10, no fp, and at most one low straight penalty.

Personally I just hold the AJ.

Subject: [vpFREE] 9/5 Super Double Bonus Strategy

I have a list of strategy changes to make to 9/6 Jacks or Better strategy when playing 9/5 Super Double Bonus.  One of my rules got cut off by my iPhone.  I think it's from a Dancer article but I can't locate it.

Hold J with no fp, 8p, nor 9p over AJ-unsuited  but hold A when it has...

Anybody know complete rule?  Thanks.

RE: [vpFREE] South Point spin promotion

DDS wrote:
On Sat, Sun & Mon in April, South Point has a promotion where you get a spin, on the card reader at your machine, for every 2,000 points (max of 4 per day).

The prizes are points and free play. As of yesterday Mrs. Don and I earned 25 spins with an average value of $14.30 per spin. This equates to an additional .715% return. It appears that the value of the prizes may be correlated to the level of the player.

It is useful to have such numbers posted. Bonnie and I have had 12 spins so far and our average is slightly higher. Keep in mind that double points would be 0.3% so this is more than 4x points --- albeit it limited to 2,000 points a day.

Before the promotion started I spoke to Cliff Paige (VP of Slots) and asked him if the value of the spins was correlated to how big of a mailer you get. He said no, not this time. Sometimes they do it that way, but aren't doing it that way currently.

[vpFREE] Re: Newbie questions about Stations properties

I know it's probably less of a flag if I go to the casino and use my card then later my girlfriend goes and uses my card, but I'm talking more about things like if I have two cards (say I get a duplicate by telling them I've lost mine) and then I put both cards in different machines at the same time and play on them.  Will that raise flags?  Will I get no-mailed for this?
