I was at Caesars AC and planning on playing for a long time for 5x comps, and also to get 5,000 points (for the 10,000 point bonus). Without revealing anything, I'll just say that there are only 3 specific machines there that I can play on, and they are all next to each other. I had to take a dinner break and needed to return after dinner. Of the 3 machines, one was shut down by someone taking a dinner break, another was being played, and I had the 3rd. Personally, I think tying up the machine is rude, but I needed to come back and play after dinner and was worried that all 3 machines would be occupied. Instead of shutting down the machine, I asked the slot attendant if it was possible to reserve the machine for me to come back to after dinner, but in the meantime, allow someone else to play it. I understand probability and random number generators and know that no one can "take" my royal flush, and this way I'd know I can resume play after dinner without being a jerk. To me it made perfect sense, but the slot attendant said that she can't do that. She said it can cause problems with people fighting over the machine when the person who is out returns. I don't see why there would be a problem - if you post a message on the machine it would be obvious that it would have to be given back, and the slot attendant could take down my name in case she is away when I come back and replaced by another slot attendant. Fortunately, the woman playing next to me had a boyfriend or husband who looked like he wanted to play, so I was able to make a deal where he would take over the machine while I was out to dinner for about an hour and a half. He said that was perfect, because that's about how much he needed to play to get his points. I even told him that when I got back, if he still needed to play a little longer for his points, that was fine with me. Everything worked out perfectly, I got back form dinner slightly later than I thought, and he was there and gave me back the machine with no problems. But in this situation, if I had to I would have been a jerk and had the machine shut, as much as I didn't want to do that. I really don't understand why reserving the machine while allowing someone else to play isn't an option. You would think that would make more money for the casino if they didn't have to shut down machines. As far as going to the bathroom, I usually just ask the person next to me to watch my machine for me, I pull out my money and leave in my card, and put my bag on the seat (nothing valuable in it). Never had a problem getting the machine back.
