[vpFREE] Re: The Original Machine Pros

Me. Shirley's email address is listed at Amazon. I think he would be a very good guest on GWAE. Bob, the eBook only costs $3. I highly suggest you buy it and skip to 38% of the book. Read his clinic on what the old time machine pros were capable of. It's fascinating to me....and as a machine pro yourself, I'm sure it will be fascinating to you.

You have to keep in mind that those strategies found at sites like wizardofodds.com are for the game in isolation. Play in a casino is rarely play in isolation and as a result the optimum strategies in a casino can be radically different.

[vpFREE] The Original Machine Pros

I think I've stumbled onto some fascinating history about old time machine pros that my generation knew nothing about, the rythm players. I found it in an eBook novel called The Queen Of Chance: Story of a Lady Gambler. The author' name is Jackie T. Shirley. Shirley's biographical sketch is he was a professional stud player in Vegas until the poker boom. I know personally that the poker boom snuffed out the stud games. He went to dealing poker after that and he looks awfully familiar in his picture on Amazon. When he retired he went to writing novels. This novel is about a young lady who went to Vegas in 1976 and. became a professional blackjack player. Then she became a rythm player player on the slots. The author, Mr. Shirley describes the learning process the heroine went through to become a professional slot (rythm) player. I can tell you that Jackie Shirley knows way to much about the science to not have been a rythm player himself. It was an in-depth science with lots of applied mathematics. It was some of the most brilliant strategic gambling I have ever seen.

Re: [vpFREE] Home: to Juneau, Alaska

Okay, I've done some homework. Driving is out of the question.Fly or take the scenic route? I'm going with the latter. And it will be somewhat of a working vacation. The MV Columbia sails from Bellingham next Friday. I'll take the shuttle from Great Falls up to zHavre next Tuesday. I'll spend the night in Havre and make some money off the machines. I'll jump on the Empire Builder (Amtrak) to Seattle then Bellingham on Wednesday evening. Cost $120. Arrive in Bellingham Thursday morning. Find a poker game and spend the night in Bellingham. Jump on the Columbia Friday evening for the 3-day cruise up the inside passage to Juneau. Cost $341.

[vpFREE] Re: General level of initial play to solicit offers

A "high roller" at CET won't be defined in terms of coin-in or points; it would be based on daily rated theo beginning at around $5000 and would have a shot at garnering $3000 FSP offers. ($10k would put you in solid "high roller " turf.)

Assuming play of a 99% ER game with a decent rating of 3% house hold, coin-in of $150k+ daily would begin to push you into HR territory.

If you're instead playing a thinly rated game with 1% rated house hold, coin-in of $500k+ daily would be required.

My guess is that the larger body of 7* players rate as only strong mid-level players. Play frequency rather than daily play strength tends to be the key qualification.

Someone who gets the top card in a day would be a high roller. Actually, anyone who gets the top card is a high roller, but to do it in one day would be better at a casino that rates you by daily average.

The optimum strategy changes on a game where you expect a bonus to be coming and you have a casino that tries to punish winners. This type of angle shooting doesn't work at casinos that only track coin in.

[vpFREE] Re: General level of initial play to solicit offers

On one trip to LAS from PDX, I meet two guys who flying on the same jet to LV as I was who said they live on playing Ultimate X at CET properties.

The key he said was to be seen as a high roller by the casinos, and then you get the offers that make it worth your time to fly to LV and play. On this particular trip both of them got $3000 free play offers from CET and they intended to only stay one night, play though the free play and head back the next day. He said they would probably play it at the .50c or $1 level. I thought about this and playing Ultimate X at this level would be equivalent to playing at the $5 10-play level.

My own play with Ultimate X Video poker has shown me that you can achieve a high coin though fairly quickly, and if you can play this game optimally with the play guide on wizardofodds.com you then should be able to achieve a high coin-though and the points you want or need to see the offers you desire.

I have no idea what CET considers a high roller as in play-though and points accumulated per day. Perhaps someone who is a high roller here can enlighten us on that.

RE: [vpFREE] Nevada State Residence & Tax advisor

There is no form per se that makes you a resident of one state versus another. But you do want to make sure (as quickly as possible) that your driver's license, car registration, voter registration are in the state you want to be your residence. You also want to receive bills that you can show as coming to your desired state residence

Two residences were maintained, one in California (where the individual resided up until he purchased a home in Nevada). Obviously California wanted the tax on the stock sale. They wanted proof of the individual living in the Nevada home, so he had to produce things such as utility bills verifying this fact.

So anyone have any good Las Vegas area tax advisors to assist us changing our state residence now since we already spend less than 6 months in the income tax state? You can private email or post here if you know of any good multi-state, Nevada residence tax experts.
