[vpFREE] XVP --- Legal Questions Sought

On next Thursday's "Gambling with an Edge" radio show, attorneys Bob Nersesian and I Nelson Rose will both be guests. The format will be for Richard and I to pose a question and let those two go at it --- hopefully at least some of the time they'll have differing opinions. And then five or so minutes later, pose another question.

Richard and I are searching for good gambling-legal questions to pose to these attorneys. the best questions will be those where intelligent people can differ as to the right answer. The show will be taped Monday night for the airing at the usual time, so any questions suggested must be by Monday noon. You can post them here or at gamblingwithanedge@gmail.com

Thanx

Bob

Re: [vpFREE] Bob Dancer's LVA - 19 AUG 2014

this is not a very difficult problem. When dealing 5 cards from a 52 card deck you will have exactly 2 Jacks and not a higher ranking poker hand ((4C2 times 12C3 times (4 to the power of 3))/(52C5))=84480/2598960=0.0325. This is at least the cost by having Jacks pay 1 instead of 2. I say at least because sometimes you lose 2 bets instead of 1 because of doubling down. I am in a hurry now, when I have more time I will tell you the exact cost.

RE: [vpFREE] Anyone heard of "Top 100 Club" card at CET properties?

The Horseshoe Hammond has a top 100 group and they have special events such as brunches and dinners.
The events often include drawings for cars or other items such as trips.  My impression is that most members play slots or multi - line VP in the high limit room.  I am not a member!

While playing at Horseshoe Bossier, I was sitting beside a young man who was being paid for a W2G hit. His card did not look like a TR card, so I asked about it. It was goldish-tan in color and said "Top 100 Club." He said it was (literally) for the top 100 players at that casino.I asked what that meant. He said that first, it meant he has lost a lot of money there. But that he got pretty much anything he wanted when visiting there - rooms, meals, shows, special events, and free play. I forgot exactly how much his free play is, but a few hundred $ each week.

He only lives about an hour away, so I got the impression he comes there frequently. And he said he was also a 7 Star, but he acted like 7 Star was nothing compared to being in the "Top 100 Club."

When I asked what software he uses to practice vp, he was not aware that there was such a thing. Said he practices in the casino. And then after watching him play for a bit, I realized he was not a "savvy gambler" - as the Flusher would say.

So after watching his play and his unlimited bennies he kept putting in, I think I figured out why he is in a "special club." Just curious if anyone else has heard of the "Top 100 Club?"

Re: [vpFREE] Bob Dancer's LVA - 19 AUG 2014

Too bad there aren't any Video Poker programs out there that would give you a more accurate E.V. on the game. Since you are paid on the jacks,  but at a lower rate my guess is that the hit you would take would be less than your guestimate, but still enough of a hit to make the venture a write off.

Hi Gang:
It's Hedy here, the better half of CoachVee and Hedy.
Our book has been well received so far with more than one reviewer claiming "it has more than paid for itself already."
For those of you who have enjoyed Tom's trip reports over the years, you'll love this book even more. What are you waiting for? It's available now on amazon.com
Many casino stories that you can relate to, and perhaps know someone as well!
"Something Bad Happen, Please"
"The fine art of turning life's little glitches into a bounty of riches"
My Best Regards,
Hedy Vee
