[vpFREE] Strange results while on a cruise

First the trip report: we just returned from 3 days in Belgium & then flew to London to board a cruise ship for 14 days to Norway, Scotland, Iceland,
Canada & NY. Very enjoyable. End of trip report.

The Ruby Princess casino had 13 IGT VP machines, all with poor paytables with ER's between 94 & 96%. The machines were single line
multi-denomination & multi-Game. But 10 of the machines were progressives divided into 3 banks & each bank had its own progressive meter. The
progressive meters only applied to quarter play.

While I played no more than 2 hours per night, almost exclusively slowly on quarter JOB. I experienced some unusual events during this cruise. First,
I got a Royal Flush in Hearts for $1263 on 9/10. Just a few seconds later a guy playing just behind me on a different bank of machines drew a RF in
Hearts, but he wasn't playing quarters & therefore not eligible for the progressive. On 9/11 I got a Royal Flush for $1581 on the second bank of progressives & on 9/15 I got a
Royal Flush for $1161 on the third bank of progressives. That's 3 Royals in less than 18,000 hands.

At one point Sue & I were playing next to each other & she was dealt 4 eights on JOB & while her machine was counting up the 125 coins she had won
I was also dealt 4 eights. During the cruise I was dealt quads six times, 3 times in 8's, twice in Jacks & once in Queens.

On almost every big ship cruise we have taken either Sue or I have hit a jackpot. On a previous cruise Sue hit 2 jackpots within 15 minutes on the same Joker machine & I hit 3 jackpots on this
cruise. Of course with these paytables you need a lot of luck to come out ahead.

[vpFREE] Re: Things to remember on or booking cruises

Misscraps,

You certainly don't make NCL sound very enticing:)  I haven't sailed on an NCL cruise since the NORWAY in 1999.  NCL seems to have certainly changed over the years!

Strange about all many loud announcementsI've sailed on many cruise lines, everything from Silversea to Carnival and there were few announcements.
Usually the Captain makes an announcement at Noon, each day, noting the ships location, weather, events that evening etc...The morning of disembarkation
usually causes plenty of announcements but that's to be expected.

I play little in the casino on board cruise ships but I have to say blackjack is fun as it seems more relaxed than in Las Vegas.

I'm sorry to hear that you had space problems in your handicapped stateroom:(

I would like to add:  I always enjoy reading your cruise reviews:)

RE: [vpFREE] Re: Markers/Cash Confiscated

It is a scam and recently there was a long front page article in the Washington Post about how the law has been used improperly and the costs in legal fees and time it takes to get  your money back.

It appears that many times the government offers half of the cash back even if you are innocent in return for dropping any litigation.

An angry poker player or an informant who works at the casino fingered them.   This is a scam to raise revenue by states.
